News: Star Trek Online

If you're a "Star Trek" fan who loves to play role-playing games (whether on board or online), you may want to check out Cryptic Studios' "Star Trek Online", a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (or "MMORPG" for short) that will be released in North America on Feb. 2, 2010 and in Europe on Feb. 5, 2010.

The game itself is set in the main "Star Trek" universe's prime timeline in the year 2409 A.D., which is not only 30 years after the events depicted in "Star Trek: Nemesis" (2002), but also 22 years after the destruction of Romulus, an event seen in "Star Trek" (2009. Also known as "Star Trek XI" and "Star Trek '09"). As for who you play in this MMORPG, you'll have the option of playing either commanding officer of a Federation Starfleet vessel or commanding officer of a Klingon vessel. As you play the game, you'll get to explore planets and starship interior as well as engage in combat. Unfortunately, there's a montly fee to pay in order to continue playing it, and the monthly fee is $14.99.
