Yesterday was the night of the 82nd Academy Awards event, and it marked the first time in the history of the "Star Trek" franchise in which a "Star Trek" movie wins at least one Oscar award. It's a known fact that in the past, four "Star Trek" movies received oscar nominations but no oscar wins: "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" (1979) had 3 nominations, "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" (1986) had 4, "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country" (1991) had 2, and "Star Trek: First Contact" (1996) had 1. Anyway, "Star Trek" (2009) won one award, and it was for "Best Makeup" (although it was one of the minor categories), and the award itself was presented by "Star Trek" fan Ben Stiller while he was cosplaying as an alien from James Cameron's "Avatar" (2009. Not to be confused with "Avatar: The Last Airbender").
As a "Star Trek" fan, I send my congrats to the film for winning at least one award, even though it lost in the other categories it was nominated for. Despite it's box office success and how it helped "Star Trek" return to the North American mainstream, it's a shame "Star Trek" (2009) didn't get selected as one of the nominees for "best movie of the year".
