This week, The Digital Bits has confirmed that CBS is currently working on a project to bring "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987) onto HD blu-ray. CBS Studios indicates that this project involves remastering the hit series in a fashion similar to the "Star Trek Remastered" project, where the company itself remastered and re-edited the entire first "Star Trek" T.V. series. So far, 4 randomly-selected ST: TNG episodes are getting remastered as a test with their remastered HD versions to be included in a sampler Blu-ray disc intended to be released later this year while the regular HD Blu-ray release for the show's entirety is intended to happen next year in time to celebrate the show's 25th anniversary.
