I wiped my tears away as I clambered into the car, turning it on.
Haley was next. I still needed my credit card.I had planned the night out. It was 11:45, almost 2010. I took out a boom-box and went to the door. I could hear her delicate, soft feet, on the floor. I pressed a button on the stereo and grabbed her waist as she opened the door. The song was 'What a Difference a Day Made' by Jamie Cullum.
I swayed with her.
She looked at me sleepily and we danced on the porch. I felt weightless as we danced. The night had produced tiny stars. I was half hot from Haley's home and half cold with the snow. Haley doesn't love anyone. She refuses to love a person. But she loves me. She loves me because I know her the best, I treat her the best.
She places her hands around my neck and her head on my shoulder. We move and turn, Haley's breath rests on my neck, and we slowly danced. "Mmm." she moans gently, as we dance through her garden. We hold each other and I slowly twirl her around and pull her against me. She kisses me on the lips upon returning, My body turns hot and cold, sending a shiver up my spine.
The dark sky is like fire.
The song ended, but I held her for a little longer, still swaying to the once playing song. I let go and take her up to her house. We got inside and we kissed again, longer, more loving. We sank down her hallway wall and she kissed me again.
"This night belongs to us." I whispered into her ear.
"Happy New Year!" Yelled the television.
Haley kissed me up my jawline and we fell asleep on her bed.
The next few days were great.
We woke up together and fell asleep together. We made breakfast for each other. I sure made a crappy omelette. I went to the store and bought my book 'Battle Studies', and went to my mother's home. I knocked on her door. She opened it up,looking at me with regret. I handed it to her.
"I think this book could help you." I said.
"Thanks."she smiled.
"I'm moving to Michigan too." I walked from the porch.
"It takes a lot of love to hate you like this,Noah." she yelled as I walked to my truck.
I knew that already.
1. Drink less beer.
2. Get new shoes.
3. Read more books.
4. Learn how to cook.
5. Pay bills on time.
6. Keep up with the news.
Would I commit to these goals? Probably not.
