Hey World. I had no time this weekend to write the story i wanted to have up by Monday. But i found an old one that i started so i'll put up a couple chapter of that :)
Chapter One
Midnight Whispers
“He is dead,” yelled a young woman dressed all in green from the hat on her head to the shoes on her feet. “Lower you voice, Iorwen. If they hear you there will be trouble,” a small and chubby man, who resembled a bulldog, begged in a whisper. Iorwen let out a hyena laugh as she told the bulldog man, “He is dead.”
The bulldog man shook his head at Iorwen, “He is too skilled in the dark arts to die from a death that simple.” Shocked to hear those words, Iorwen raised her voice beyond her current yell when she roared, “200 stories, no one could survive that. Not even Mother or Father could survive…” “Hold your tongue,” the bulldog man snapped at Iorwen raising his voice for the first time. Their eyes locked on the others.
Minutes passed before the bulldog man spoke, “He is an extremely powerful and dangerous wizard. To assume he would kill himself when he was within achieving his life goal is madness. Something happened up on that roof. Something only he and Draken will ever know. Draken says he is died, killed himself. But, Iorwen, we have no proof of this. For all we know he is hiding, waiting until the time is right.” “Time is right for what,” Iorwen asked in a suddenly scared voice.
But the bulldog man no longer was looking at Iorwen. His eyes now where locked on the tall, grimacing stranger approaching them. “Tristram Warlow,” the bulldog man said to the stranger and to himself. “I wasn’t excepting to find you here of all places, Professor Caradoc, Iorwen,” Tristram spoke in a voice that you would except to be that of a snake. Professor Caradoc moved in between Iorwen and Tristram as if to be a shield protecting her from this man. “We were just leaving. Weren’t we, Iorwen,” Professor Caradoc said in a sharp tone. Iorwen held onto Professor Caradoc’s arm as she nodded her head.
As Professor Caradoc went to turn leaving Tristram alone in the dark alley. Tristram grabbed Professor Caradoc’s free arm. In a dark whisper, as he was staring into Professor Caradoc’s frightened eyes, he spoke, “He is alive.”
Chapter Two
The Boy of Two Worlds
The Pierce family was very proud to be the envy of their neighbors. Very proud indeed. Percy Pierce owned the Willow Way, a very profitable newspaper franchise. He was the most handsome man in town; just ask the ladies of the town they love to talk about him. With drop dead looks and charms, Percy was every woman’s dream. But Percy had nothing on his wife. With hair as red as the rose, eyes as green as an emerald, a laugh as sweet as honey; Lily Pierce was a women of extreme beauty and grace. A daughter of a billionaire, she could have married any man she wanted.
The town envied them, wished to be them even if only for one day. The envy only increased when Lily gave birth to Nicholas Percy Pierce. With hair as dark as night, eyes as blue as the ocean; he was the spitting image of his father. As the boy grew he amazed everyone in town. The smartest in the class room and the fastest on the field, Nicholas was the perfect son to the perfect parents.
Our story starts when Nicholas Pierce turned the age eleven. Nicholas, like every boy his age looked forward to his birthday party. The cake, the ice cream, and the presents, of course. As soon as Nicholas opened his eyes after a good night’s sleep and hurried down stairs to the breakfast his mother had prepared for him, he had no idea his life would be forever changed.
The smell of chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, eggs, and coffee filled the air of the kitchen. Nicholas took his normal seat at the table. His father was engrossed in his Sunday morning newspaper not even aware that his son had set down. “Happy Birthday Honey,” Lily Peirce said as she placed a plate of chocolate chips pancakes with one candle on top in front of her son. Nicholas looked oddly at this candle. It was carved to be half the face of a man and half the face of a woman. Looking closely at the man’s face, Nicholas could have sworn that he had seen the man’s face before. “Blow out your candle son,” said Percy Pierce, whose paper had been set aside for a moment. Nicholas looked at his father’s cheerful face then he looked at his mother’s suddenly nerves face. Suddenly aware of her son’s eyes upon her, Lily smiled and said in a voice Nicholas had never heard before “Blow out your candle, Nicholas.”
Taking in a deep breath, Nicholas closed his eyes then blow. Shock over came Nicholas when he saw the candle’s flame still burned as strong and bright as before. Blowing again with his eyes open this time, he saw the flame not even move. Again and again, he tried with the same outcome each time. Nicholas feeling pathetic for not being able to blow out the flame pulled the candle off his pancakes and dropped it into his orange juice. Not even before he could speak, he saw the oddest thing; his orange juice began to evaporate.
Soon Nicholas was staring at an empty glass with the candle still burning. Nicholas stared in shock and amazement at the candle. He had no idea how much time had passed before his father said, “What was that…that…I don’t even know what to call that.” Nicholas looked at his father. His father looked horrified and as he stood at the door, ready to run from his odd son. Opening his mouth, only to close it a few seconds later, Nicholas couldn’t answer his father.
“That was the tester candle. He passed,” Lily suddenly said in a voice that hides her emotions. Both Nicholas and Percy looked at Lily. Smiling sadly at the two people she loved the most, Lily began to tell a story she always know she would have to tell even if it she may lose it all because of it.
“I grow up far from here. I lived in a town called Hatfield. Things there were very different from the way things are here. We did things you never would imagine in your wildest dreams. Dragon races, broom chases. I am from a family of pureblooded witches and wizards, you see. I grow up my whole life knowing I was a witch just like my mother. Even before they placed the tester candle on my eleventh birthday cake, even before the flame ever went out, I knew I was a witch. But I, like everyone else in my world, had to do the tester candle. To test if I was magical enough like everyone else in my family. Like you, I was very magical for the flame never moved. Like I did, you will now be able to attend Muddocks, the school for young witches and wizards.”
“Stop this madness,” Percy yelled at his wife. He looked at her like he had never seen her before. This wasn’t the Lily he had married. The Lily he loved was no witch. But as his brain tried to understand he knew she wasn’t lying. He had heard Lily and her father talk about magic, Muddocks, and wizards when they thought he wasn’t listening. He had seen his own son heal a broken leg over night and make toys talk that shouldn’t be able to talk. The truth was in his kitchen staring at him with his own eyes. Nicholas was a wiz…wizard.
Unable to look at either one of them, Percy left the room and he would go to work like nothing had happened. Then when he came home after work and his son was gone he would just act like Nicholas was at a normal boarding school.
Lily looked at her son sadly for one more moment. Then she banished the sad thoughts and smiled. “Nicholas would you like to go see Brigstack? You can decide if you want to attend Muddocks after that. Alright,” Lily asked her son in her normal sweet voice. Nicholas looked into his mother’s eyes; he nodded his head as he tried to take it in. He was a wizard.
Chapter Three
Brigstack, the City of Magic
Nicholas only four hours ago heard that he was a wizard. Now he was on a bus with his witch mother to go to a place called Brigstack, a place of magic. Nicholas never took his eyes off the window. He watched his world, the only world he ever know go by. As if afraid he would never see it again, Nicholas tried to take it all in and to hold on to every inch of his world. It wasn’t until Nicholas’ mother put a hand on his shoulder and said “this is our stop,” that Nicholas realized the train had stopped. Nicholas took one last look out his window taking it all in before he fallowed his mother,
Lily led her son down the alley between Gwilt House of Law and C&S Industries. A smile found its way on her face as she remembered her first time to Brigstack. When she came to the brick way at the end of the alley Lily saw an unexpected face. “Professor Rowling” Lily gasped surprised. Professor Rowling turned to face the person calling her name. Lily saw that after eleven years, Professor Rowling had not changed a bit. Professor Rowling was about the size of a thirteen year old girl. Long blond hair and golden eyes, Professor Rowling could have as well been only a normal girl. Until you noticed she was dressed in a long black dress with a purple cape. Purple must have been her color since her hat, shoes, and lip stick where the same purple as her cape. But even though wearing so much of purple was odd the wand is what gave away that this was no ordinary girl. “Hello Lily. This must be young Nicholas. Haven’t seen you since you were only a little sprite,” Professor Rowling said smiling up at Nicholas, since she was a head shorter than him. ”Yes this is Nicholas. Nicholas this is Professor Rowling, she is the Transfiguration teacher at Muddocks,” Lily explained to him. “Pleasure to meet you, Professor,” Nicholas said looking down at her still finding it odd for a teacher to be so short. Professor Rowling, unaware of Nicholas’ shock by her height, just smiled at the boy then with a nod of her head she said, “Well I must not keep you waiting. A norm may see us.” Professor Rowling right before Nicholas eyes ran through the brick wall without another word. Eyes wide with amazement, Nicholas stared at the spot where Professor Rowling had run through. Lily smiled down at her son, she grabbed his hand and like she had done before many years ago she ran through the wall.
Nicholas froze at that his sight of Brigstack. More people then Nicholas had ever seen before in his life filled the street. All of them were dressed like they were from a foreign country or something. There were shops after shops. Some of them had the oddest names Nicholas had ever heard before. Lillian Lolleylucker’s, Silver Snake Pet Shop, and the oddest one of all were Crimson Cross Crowned Candy Spot.
As they walked down the street, Nicholas was amazed to see animals he never had seen before in his life. Over the noise of the crowd and with all the amazing sights to be seen, Nicholas soon forgot about his old world. “Nicholas, I’ll let you have a look around. Meet me at Boiling Pot in an hour. Oh Nicholas, do try to have fun,” Lily said giving Nicholas one last smile before she disappeared into the crowd.
Unsure of where first to go, Nicholas just wondered the streets. As he walked past a clothing store called Bloomsbury, an owl flow over head with a package attached to it. Nicholas didn’t find the idea of owl mail weird at all. The fact he didn’t find it weird was what was weird to him. As he tried to ponder why he wasn’t freaking out, a girl with pink bubble gum hair ran into him and knocked him to the ground. As Nicholas stood up and brushed himself off the girl just smiled at Nicholas then ran off without even saying a simple sorry.
“Sorry about Gwendolyn,” said a boy with short and messy dirty blond hair and warm hazel colored eyes. The boy was a head taller than Nicholas but seemed to be the same age. The boy smiled a friendly smile at him, “I am Luis Rhydderch.” He held out his hand to Nicholas. Shaking Luis hand, Nicholas said surprisingly normal voice, “Nicholas, Nicholas Pierce.” “Pleasure to meet you,” Luis said with a smile before he repeated his earlier statement, “sorry about Gwendolyn.” Nicholas shocks his head at the thought of the bubble gum haired girl. “It’s fine. Is she always like that,” Nicholas asked Luis. With a shrug Luis explained, “I just meet her today when I bought new herbs.” There was a short pause before the question Nicholas was wondering came out, “so are you going to Muddocks?” Luis gave a shy smile, “This will be my first year.” “Nerves,” Nicholas asked knowing he was. Luis nodded his head but with a new strength in his eyes he said, “But I want to go. I don’t want to be a burden. I’ll become the best wizard I can be.” Nicholas was shocked by Luis words. He had no idea what to say to that. Lucky for Nicholas, just then a voice of an elderly women yelled, “Luis, LUIS.” “Coming,” Luis yelled only pausing to say “Good bye Nicholas,” before he disappeared into the crowed.
As Nicholas set at one of back tables in Boiling Pot, he thought of what Luis had said. Even though he didn’t understand this new world at all, he was still a wizard and his old world couldn’t help him grow. His mother, his father, no one could help him become a wizard. So he would go to Muddocks, he wouldn’t be a burden on his family. He would become the greatest wizard he could be. That was exactly what he told his mother when she got there.
Lily smiled at her son. Nicholas would be fine, she was sure of this. “Well the train for Muddocks leaved tomorrow at noon. Your grandfather already had bought all your supplies when you were born. So tomorrow I’ll take you to the train station,” Lily told her son as a tear fell from her eye. She smiled at Nicholas wishing her husband could see their boy growing up too.
