Time for an update on what I've been up to. I'll start with all the plagiarism fuss going on around here in relation to fan art.
So all of you who either took the time to come to me and ask questions and then remove stuff on your own, I thank you. Nothing makes me happier than to see people handle a situation with maturity. It saves staff time and avoids drama that is completely unnecessary. Also...
As a hint to people who wonder how we pick moderators when an opening comes up, this is one of the behaviors we look for. People who don't have a problem following the rules or owning up to making a mistake. We don't look for perfection since it doesn't exist, we look for people who have the maturity and personality to be responsible, even if they don't agree with the rules.
I'm not really going to get into all the people complaining because their stuff was removed and think the rules are stupid, etc. But I will link to this post here by a fellow staff member:
I also want to thank the people who though initially frustrated, worked to get over it and actually offer suggestions. One of them was to make finding the site terms a bit easier. So Adam transfered the FAQ world over to my account and I've gone through the past week and worked on updating the information.
For example we no longer have fan words so I removed the content in relation to that. I also updated stuff with anchor links so it's easier to find what you need. The biggest change is to the link provided when you submit something. I updated that FAQ with another sentence that links directly to the site terms so people will realize that there is more than what is on that simple page.
I'm not done and will actually have a staff meeting later this week to go over other tweaks that the site needs. I like to keep a list of suggestions and things that need to be done so I can work with Adam to get things done. Not all suggestions are possible but we do try to do what we can.
Anyway, since it's Sunday I'm going to wander off and be lazy. Unless there is stuff that absoutely has to be addressed, it's my day off from site work. :p
