I was doing quizzes earlier this evening, something I'm sure many of you know on account of the update. But it got me thinking about what I consider do’s and don’ts for submitting a quiz. For one thing a big don’t is using the image result from someone else’s quiz. If I recognize it, I won’t approve it and if it’s found out later that you did… you could lose the privilege to post quizzes period. The way I see it is if you’re too lazy to make your own images, then you don’t need to be submitting a quiz. No whining that you don’t have photoshop either, not when there are programs out there like Gimp that is free.
Another don’t when making a quiz is crude questions and answers. I can guarantee you that I’m not going to approve a question that asks what kind of [pardon the vulgarity here] dump you took when you went to the bathroom. I’m not going to remove it and replace it with a real question for you either. So yeah, don’t use that kind of humor because it’s just not all that funny or imaginative. I’m not kidding either, I see that in questions and that’s an instant rejection.
Now you might be thinking… OMG, they’re so strict I’ll never get a quiz approved! Well… no, that’s not the case either. You can even have interesting spelling in the results if it’s done right. Take this quiz that I approved earlier:
As you can see the images aren’t exactly proper English but they do fit the quiz nicely. So if you haven’t taken it yet… do.
So here’s the basic do’s for a quiz. First of all… make your OWN result images, don’t use others unless it’s a case of them making it for you. That’s acceptable. Try to have more than simple what’s your favorite color or food questions. Spellcheck is also your friend, because if I have to fix just about every single question and sentence on account of bad spelling or lack of punctuation or capitalization… you get the picture, I just might not get to the bottom of that quiz for approving it.
