I'm sure you're all familiar with the statement: "It's not in the rules!" Usually I run into it when someone is using it to justify their behavior. If that doesn't work, then it's the standard fall back of: "You need to stop being so uptight." Or other various insults directed towards the person telling someone to behave.
I've been meaning to get around to this, updating the site terms to explicitly include the chat, since instead of taking the reminder to behave to heart, some have instead decided to be verbally abusive to the moderators who volunteer their time to help out. That is unacceptable.
So the next time someone mouths off that it's not in the rules when they are reminded to not swear, among other things... Yes it is. Site Terms I updated that earlier this evening. It's at the very end of the post.
Ironically, this happens in the same week that I actually froze two accounts that a member was using to essentially troll the chat. This means they can no longer use those accounts period. I was going to be lenient and merely ban them from the chat, but the moment that happened (my banning them from the chat), they moved the trolling to pm's. So yeah, I hope people keep this in mind. It's more than chat privileges that are at stake when you pull stupid stunts like that.
