I’m going to rant a little here, fair warning. Anyway, it has to do with pointless melodramatic theatrics in the chat. I’m talking about members who enter and either declare their lives are super depressing, that they’re going to kill themselves, or that they’re never going to submit stuff again or are leaving… And to be blunt, they need to go elsewhere for such overdramatic nonsense.
We got one the other day that after leading everyone on with the, it’s my last day here, finally told them their reason was because they were sick of how people here are so hypocritical. Now I’m not going to claim there aren’t disagreeable people here at theOtaku, after all as part of my job I get to deal with some of the nutcases out there.
But to turn around and make a scene before stalking off like that only tells me that you’re unwilling to take the time to get to know those people who aren’t jerks. And making those who aren’t feel bad by pulling a stunt like that makes you just as hypocritical as those you dislike. Especially if you have people you consider friends here.
If a place has nothing that interests you, that’s fine. Or if your life has gotten too busy, that’s reasonable. But don’t make the mistake of insulting thousands of people you don’t know just because you don’t like some of them. Grow up a little and either ignore them or use the block features that theO provides instead of taking it out on everyone else.
Running solves nothing. I can guarantee you that no matter where you go in life; you will run into people who are jerks. The more you run, the more you ignore the good stuff in front of you. It’s the glass half empty vs half full syndrome. If you only focus on one, you’re missing the other. And I’d rather focus on what I have instead of what I don’t. Why depress yourself for no reason?
So when this happened and they finally said why, I called them on their BS, pointing out that they needed to stop being just as hypocritical as those they don’t like. Like anyone creating a scene, once someone pointed out that they were doing so, they fled the chat. That kind of thing is trolling in my opinion and has no place in the chat. If someone has real concerns then bring it to my attention and I’ll look into it. But keep the stupid drama to yourself.
You will never convince me that every single member, except for you, here is a jerk. It won’t happen, ever. Because I know it’s not true. In the end, I really wish people would think instead of emoting and making things more of a problem than they really are.
Anyway, that ends the rant. On a more positive note, the results for the OtakuBoards Christmas banner winners is in and instead of picking just one, James picked one for each of the skins except for Caramelldansen. So my Lucky Star banner I made is on the Geisha skin at OB: Geisha Though since it will be taken down once the holidays are over, I took a screenshot which you can see here. Christmas Banner
I’m really pleased to see that one of my banners got chose for OtakuBoards this year. ^_^ Oh and speaking of banners, based on what all of you said in the comments last time, I modified my Jade one and added moar snowflakes. So let me know what you think. I actually hadn’t noticed it until you guys pointed it out so thanks for the input.
