I thought I'd clarify something since I startled members by entering the chat earlier this morning, and then seemed to kick someone from the chat for no reason. The thing is, when we make decisions, as staff, to deal with a troublesome member, we don't post somewhere explaining to everyone why we took the actions that we did, or will take. And most of the time, we're not going to tell you. That's just how it works. Me coming in to kick a member out isn't going to happen a lot, but when it does, this will be why.
You see banning someone from theOtaku doesn't affect the chat, at least if they are already logged in and currently in there. Once I deal with an account, they can't log in and therefore can't get into chat. So since the member was in the chat when I dealt with their account, I went in and kicked them out.
Otherwise until they leave or get disconnected they stay in the chat. So I simply went in and finished the banning process. Normally when I do that to someone, people don't know about it since you can't see what I do and most of the time, they're not in the chat so I don't need to do that. In this case, since they were in there, any member in the chat could see the kick and of course that would have them wondering since I did not explain it.
So it's simple really, if I suddenly appear in the chat and kick a member without warning, it will be because they have done something that warranted having their account dealt with. I'm simply finishing up the job. In other words it will simply be a coincidence that they were in the chat at the same time.
I don't kick someone without a reason. The people who need to know why do and that's all that matters. So if your curious, that's the deal.
Anyway, since it is Christmas Eve and everything resulted in me doing more moderation work than I expected to this morning... I'm going to simply leave you with this fun image.
