I just realized that I haven't updated in a while, so I thought I'd fix that. You can blame it on my getting Star Ocean: The Last Hope. I've been doing stuff around here and then slinking off to play with my new game. =3 I'm about 30 hours in and I just started disk two. There are three play disks total. So far, I'm enjoying it a lot. The only complaint I have is that some of the dialogue for the cut scenes is just downright cheesy. It's probably why the game is getting 8 or 8.5 out of 10 for ratings. Anyway...
The fighting style is a bit revamped and I like how that was done. Just as I love how detailed the worlds are. The only drawback is that I have a standard TV instead of an HDTV. So I do have a few spots where I literally can't read the text. Fortunately, it's not enough to mess up the game. However, that does mean getting a new TV is now on my list. Once I get other things I need first that is.
Now for the site related stuff. I logged in the other day to find that someone got the bright idea to spam the quizzes with submissions. Try sending in the same quiz ten times and you get the idea. If a quiz isn't approved, spamming won't make it go up either. You have to actually improve it. And give it time to get approved. That helps too.
Unfortunately, I only check quizzes about twice a week, so by the time I saw it and pm'd them to straighten that out, they had already spammed quite a bit. Sometimes I'll see one put in twice, but ten times... that's pretty crazy when you consider how long it takes to put a quiz in.
I got a lot of things done at our weekly staff meeting earlier this evening (or yesterday since it's now technically the 25th). Or Adam would probably tell you that I semi bossed him around and he got a lot of things done. >_> I do that. Pass on things people tell me about or address concerns I have and he fixes what I can't.
Take the quizzes for example. I was getting phantom quizzes. It would say I had more to approve when there was nothing there. It was just a glitch that was allowing people to submit quizzes when they weren't logged in or registered. So Adam fixed that so I won't get phantom quizzes anymore.
Another fix is something I suggested based on a conversation we had a while ago. And by a while ago, I literally mean that. It was something that came up in June of last year. I had hoped it wouldn't be necessary, but recent events have convinced me that it is.
So since I insisted on having Adam implement it I have no trouble whatsoever taking full responsibility for it. Though it would be more accurate to say I'm willing to put up with the potential whining this will cause. However, this is something that I think is long overdue really.
I'm not going to outright say what I'm talking about just yet, but I will say this. It means those who would lie and cheat to gain recognition on the site, will now find that we are tightening the noose...
