Falling Down

I was going to plug the new challenge I created (by having it send you all pm's), but then I remembered that you all should see it as an update in your backroom so I didn't bother. Saved me from needing to go and fetch everyone's user name. If I can be lazy, I will. =P

But if you missed that, you can find it here: Birthday Wishes: Bossman Style! So feel free to join in the fun or ignore it... either or. I really do boss Adam around a lot. o_O I know it's my job but I am forever finding things for him to do so when I got the idea, I decided to follow through with it.

Anyway, I discovered that I can, if absoutely necessary, get into someone's account. Think last resort because doing so locks the member out. I'm not the type to mess with or toy with the functions at my fingertips unless I really need to. So I went an entire year not noticing this because the times it will come up are really rare. But anything that makes my job and Adam's easier is a good thing, so learning how to better navigate the site behind the scenes = WIN.

Let's see, I got wiped out in Star Ocean the other day. I knew I wasn't quite ready since the monsters in the area were really doing a number on my party. But since there was a save point, I couldn't resit going forward just to see the story advance. My main character, since I never switch him out, was okay since he's about five levels above the others. The others were just getting clobbered too easily. XD

Now the new game has a fun feature, if all characters get wiped out, the ones in standby come into play, but you only get to switch in one at a time. So if the enemy is really mean... it's not enough since they kill you before you can revive the others. So in this case, I had to let each of them die to finally get game over. If you're really close to winning though, it's a nifty function. But if you're not, it's annoying. XP So I'll be spending some time leveling up before I go past that saved point again. XD

Anyway, people have already figured out what I was referring to in my last post. It's quite simple really. You see, I deal with the submission reports, the members who are essentially dishonest. For about 99% of them that one whack from me is all it takes for them to either realize they screwed up or didn't understand how the system worked. I usually never get another report about them and life goes on.

Then you have those problem children. The ones that in spite of being given many second chances, keep abusing the system again and again. So it's simple really. If you want to be listed on the top members or things like that, don't cheat to get there. You can lose your account and even if you don't, from now on, people caught doing that will have their names removed from that top followed member list.

People often cheat to gain attention so that is what I meant by tightening the noose. The advantage to the newer version of theOtaku is that doing things like this is much easier than before. So I can essentially blacklist someone from being allowed to show up on something like that. If someone wants to be up there and easily visible on theO, they need to earn it instead of using underhanded tricks to get there. So bottom line, don't steal others art, don't make fake accounts to boost your perceived popularity. Because people find out, they always do.
