Why hello there, my dear friends! *hugs everyone she can get her hands on* I know I haven't updated in ages or visited any of you lately, but I've been away to Azuga (again) for the past 2 weeks - actually, I got back this Tuesday and had a lot to sort out, so I barely got some time off now! How have you guys been? I know I always promise to visit and rarely keep my word, but I hope I can do this now >o< If not, you can shout at me all you want, I deserve it.
So, let's start storytelling, huh? Well, I left in July, came back in August, and I took my friend Nico with me ^^ Before leaving, I kept telling her about the sights there and the great nature photos you can take there (the sky there is amazing!), so she got excited and begged me to go. We were originally going to stay for only a week, but we changed our minds and stayed two instead; until we were almost out of money and had to resort to the "emergency fund" (approximately $167) - we didn't spend it all, though.
And trust me, that much money can seem SO little when you have things to spend it on! For example, we had to buy food almost daily; the fridge broke down twice, so we had to buy stuff daily, and in small quantities so it wouldn't go bad. The ladies at the shops we went to got used to us buying the weirdest stuff, from tomatoes to beer XD Because we did buy beer. And pizza! Both on the first day, too! We had to commemorate our arrival there, after all :3 We ended up doing karaoke and laughing at each other. I don't even know if someone lived in the flat below - there are a lot of seasonal homes in Azuga (apartments/villas that people don't actually live in) -, it sure was silent!
Luckily, Nico had her mobile phone and we listened to the radio, since we didn't have a TV or a computer. Yup, no TV or internetz for two weeks. We lived only on sudoku, crossword puzzles and reading. Another thing we got to spend money on was books. We visited the nearby towns (Sinaia, Buşteni) and found a nice little library in Sinaia; cue book shelf rape XD Basically, we searched the entire library for stuff to read and the poor woman there got gray hairs because of us. Nico ended up buying two books (I forgot the titles), and I got Dreamcatcher by Stephen King and Le Nécrophile by Gabrielle Wittkop; I enjoyed both (they're both horror stories) ^^
We went hiking a bit and got to climb a mountain in Azuga, half of which is a ski slope. Fortunately for us, the weather was fine and we got to take many good photos!
Mountains photographed from the "ferry" (if anyone knows what the English word for it is, please let me know, I tried a few online translators and they returned nothing right >.<) we took from Buşteni. The people there were cheapskates and wouldn't give us a students discount, so we ended up paying the full price for adults, $160 each. They only considered people from 5-12 years old, "children" >_> But the way up was worth the money; what we saw on the mountain top, not that much.
The Peleş Castle. I had been there before, but it was the first time for Nico. We managed to visit it, having a discount 'cause we're students :D I would have taken some photos of the inside, but it was way too expensive ($67 for taking photos, $167 for filming). The photos I took outside were pretty, though! Maybe I'll dedicate an entire post to them ^^
Well, that's about it for now, this post is getting too long XD I think I'll post more images from this trip later; meanwhile, I'll leave you with a sunset photo I took from the living room window in Azuga. Thank you for your time and comments, they are very appreciated! *hugs* ^_^
