It was a warm summer's day in Twink City. People bustled along the pavements of the crowded street, many lugging heavy bagfuls of shopping with them. Cars raced along the road, screeching insults at each other.
Unnoticed, a portal silently opened in the sky just above the few trees which lined the roads. Carefully, a young boy of about 14 years old stepped cautiously out. Instead of instantly plummeting to the ground, he hovered slightly shakily a few feet away from the portal. His face hosted beautiful blue eyes with a noticeable twinkle and his sharp elfin features and wild shock of blond hair made him strangely handsome. He was wearing a t-shirt and a pair of jeans. Buckled to his belt was a long sword. A loud crashing noise from the portal made him whip around startled, just in time to see his best friend tumble from the portal into the trees below. A few minutes later, a head popped out of the leafy canopy of the tree.
" ELF-BOY!" Bellowed a loud cheery voice. The blue eyed boy sighed. "He's such an idiot." he thought. He swooped down and whacked the head so it quickly disappeared back underneath the thick tree canopy, before dropping down onto the branch below him where his friend was sprawled rubbing his head vigorously. His deep purple eyes brimmed with tears and his usually messy long purple hair was even more messier that usual. He wore a purple t-shirt and shorts, topped of with a long jacket.
" Derrick, i told you already. Don't call me elf-boy. CALL ME ALFIE!" Alfie shouted with considerable force, going red in the face. It was so embarrassing sometimes, having a best friend like Derrick.
"Awwww Elf-"
"Alfie"
"Fine, Alfie, you said i could give you a nick-name!" Whined Derrick. And that hurt! He thought angrily.
"I didn't. Besides, enough about that, we're here to look for the target ." Said Alfie meaningfully.
"Isn't that her beneath us?" Questioned Derrick, pointing to a girl on the bench below them. She was wearing a pink mini skirt and a pink strap top. Her long brown hair went past her shoulders and her deep green eyes flicked up to where Derrick and Alfie were sitting, a puzzled expression on her face. She muttered something to herself and pulled out a long fan and fanned herself. Alfie leant forwards carefully and examined the girl.
"Does she have the mark? Check."
"Sure thing Alfie!" Chirped Derrick happily, his moment of anger forgotten. "According to the data we've managed to collect, her mark should be on the side of her right thigh. So, since she's wearing a skirt, I don't think stirring up a bit of a wind won't be a problem!"
"Nice, just get on with it," muttered Alfie as Derrick murmured a few words. A few seconds later, a cool light breeze rolled speedily along the pavement turning into a powerful gust of wind as it passed the bench, causing the girls skirt to suddenly flare up. She let out a squeal and tried with no success to keep her skirt down.
" Yep, she's got the mark," confirmed Alfie, hungrily eyeing the girl's slender legs. " It's a paw print with wings... multicoloured as well. Interesting. She destined to be a neko. A rather powerful one at that." He added raising an eyebrow.
"Is it time to go and meet her in person?" Derrick asked eagerly. The girl had now ran to the nearest cafe to take shelter from the wind, her long hair all over the place. Alfie stared at the cafe and frowned before raising a hand. The wind immediately ceased.
"Let's go," he said a smile playing about his lips.
Back down on the streets in the ally, something stirred in the shadows. Two pairs of blood-red eyes glared out towards Alfie and Derrick. Two mouths curled into menacing smiles.
