Ahoy, I'm Peter Tatara. In brief, I'm left-handed, a vegetarian, and my blood type is A. I work for the New York Comic Con and New York Anime Festival and have a cute girlfriend and a Space: Above & Beyond boxset. I'm generally a happy guy.

NYAF and NYCC in 2010!

Early in the year, we put out a Press Release announcing C2E2: The Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo and New York Comic Con's move to the fall. We just put out a Press Release speaking about what this means for the New York Anime Festival -- traditionally held in the fall as well.

In short, NYCC and NYAF will be co-locating in 2010.

Want more details? We're launching the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo in April 2010, and we moved NYCC to a permanent October date, thus providing a spring and fall balance to these two key events which will remain in place as we move forward. With NYAF, rather than create a third date for the show, it was decided a co-location would be better for anime fans, professionals, exhibitors, and partners. We looked at a lot of options, alternate venues, and alternate times, but nothing gelled. Instead, what made more and more sense was combining it with NYCC, and we spoke to attendees and exhibitors of both shows before making this decision, and everyone agrees that this will provide an opportunity for both shows to further grow and prosper.

The jointly-held New York Comic Con and New York Anime Festival 2010 will occupy virtually the entire Jacob K. Javits Center. Both shows will maintain distinct guests and programming space and share a common show floor. And, more importantly for attendees, fans will be able to attend both shows for the price of one -- as a ticket to NYCC 2010 will also provide access to NYAF 2010 and vice versa. Re-read that last sentence. That's right. Really.

We'll have a lot more details about the co-location in the future, as it means a lot of new and exciting things for both NYCC and NYAF, but -- most importantly -- we wanted to make this announcement now before NYAF 2009 so there's not an "OMG! WTF!" storm when people open up the Program Guide and see the new dates.

Brooklyn Book Fest This Weekend!

Just a reminder that this year's Brooklyn Book Festival (brooklynbookfestival.org) is going on this Sunday at Brooklyn Borough Hall. From 10 to 6, it's a celebration of literacy in all its forms. And, for the first time, New York Comic Con is taking part with a stage and whole section of exhibitors dedicated to comics and graphic novels. Check out nycomiccon.com for all our guests and panels.

Oh, and it's free. That's right. Free. You heard me. Free.
