After three spellbinding (and award-winning) years on Nickelodeon, the cartoon series Avatar: The Last Airbender is getting the live-action treatment, with M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender hitting theaters in 2D and 3D on July 1. The Last Airbender tells the tale of Aang, the last boy with the ability to control the element of air and the destiny to bring balance to the world. On Friday, July 2, the day after The Last Airbender comes to the big screen, Kinokuniya Bookstore, Del Rey Books, and the New York Anime Festival present LAST AIRBENDER DAY and tell the other half of the story.
Del Rey’s Dave Roman and Alison Wilgus, authors of the just released graphic novel The Last Airbender: Prequel – Zuko’s Story, will be appearing at Kinokuniya from 4 to 6 PM to speak about The Last Airbender, present a read-along, and sign autographs for attendees. Zuko’s Story reveals the never-before-seen origin of Aang’s nemesis, Fire Prince Zuko, a banished warrior who has dedicated his life to capturing the one thing that can bring him redemption... Aang.
