The New York Anime Festival starts September 26, but we've got something special for New Yorkers who want to get the party started a little earlier -- the NYAF Charity Pre-Party!
The New York Anime Festival has teamed up with AnimEigo, FUNimation, ITO EN, Planet Hollywood, TOKYOPOP, and VIZ Media for a special night benefiting the UN-recognized charity Orphans International Worldwide (www.oiww.org) on Saturday, September 20 at China 1 (50 Avenue B, Between 3rd & 4th St) from 6 to 8 PM. All proceeds from the night will go to Orphans International Worldwide.
Tickets are priced at $25 and include food, drinks, and a raffle ticket for prizes donated by the sponsors. Special gift bags will also be given to the first 100 who register online.
The evening will feature contests, cosplay, and concerts by Echosteam and Uzuki.

In 2009, it will be caring for AIDS affected orphans in Moshi, Tanzania. OIWW provides aid to the world's most disadvantaged children with the donated services of 90 volunteers, on an annual budget of less than a half-million dollars.
