If you looked to the NYAF Sunday schedule yesterday, you’d have seen a two hour block of Gurren Lagann on Sunday afternoon. (We’re first showing Gurren Lagann on Saturday, and we put it on our Sunday schedule hoping to maybe get a nod to do the movie. This ain’t happening.) If you look at the NYAF Sunday schedule now – pending whenever the file gets uploaded to our server – you’ll see this block of hot blooded robot action has been replaced with a little something different from our friends at Bandai.
The premiere of Ghost Slayers Ayashi!
NYAF and Bandai Entertainment will premiere the English language version of the Studio Bones series Ghost Slayers Ayashi from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday, September 28 in the Anime News Network Theater (1A12). What’s it about? For nearly 25 years Yukiatsu Ryuuda, (Steve Blum) has wandered the countrysides of Japan posing as a bodyguard, living the life of a gambler and thief, all the while denying his true name. Through a chance encounter with Youi (supernatural creatures) and the members of the Office of Barbarian Knowledge Enforcement, Yuki is forced to face the life he’s been running from and rediscover his long hidden power of Ayagami, the ability to find true names and use them as a weapon to exorcise demon beasts plaguing the material world. And with Steve Blum being a guest at NYAF, he might just wander into this premiere.
