The last few nights I have been hiding and on the run. Apparently myself is not allowed to be free and people have been after me. The night time has been my friend helping me hide but lately I have been needing to find a large body of water. I miss my hot spring that I grew up in but after people started to come around in larger numbers my hiding spots were dwindling and I had to leave.
Day by day I wondered looking for a new place to hide and find some food with no luck. Would find a small stream that would allow some water for me to lay in and recover for being out so long. But was never enough for a swim or long term and I had to keep moving.
Eventually I came to a town and well, let’s just say, things went downhill for me. The town had a more organized group that was after me and well the first night there I was back on the run. I could hear little popping noises behind me and every so often a small sting was felt in my back. Nothing ever seemed to happen afterwards besides more popping noises.
I turned down a side road and saw a female turning into a dark alley up a ways in front of me. That struck me a little strange but I had to keep running. I made my way towards the dark alley way to see if she was okay.
“Where did that little butterfly go?” I heard a voice saying but their tone sounds full of sarcasm. Suddenly I say two other people duck into the same dark alley way and now I knew something was up.
“Over here! I found him! Get the others!” I heard a man yelling behind me as he started to approach me. So without thinking I turned down that same dark alley way with them chasing me.
‘I hope this works like I think it will.’ I thought to myself as I entered the dark alley way. I saw the two figures slowly walking down the alley way looking for something. I just picked up some speed and lowered my shoulder plowing into them. They fell to ground yelling profanities.
“You’re dead bastard!” I heard one of them yell as they started to get to their feet.
“Quick there is two more! Get them!” The same man yelled that was after me.
*POP! POP! POP! POP!* rang out in the dark alley way as they went after the unknown people.
I kept running and saw they girl hiding. Without thinking dropped to one knee and my right thigh grabbing the girl as I slide by. “Come on this way.” I said to her as I picked her up and started to get running again.
We came to a split and “You go that way I will distract them and keep them away from you.” I said I gently put her down and started to push her away. She paused for a moment before she started to go. I felt a slight sting again but this one lasted a bit longer and I started to feel a little sluggish. I turned to see she was almost to another lighted side street before I turned to become a distraction.
*POP!* Sounded behind me and I staggered forward slight dropping to one knee. I tried to get up but was having trouble moving. *POP!* sounded again and I staggered to the ground unable to move. The cool refreshing temperature of the pavement against me hot sweat covered skin and the gently breeze began to cool my body as I laid there motionless. “We got one sir. Never seen one like this thought” a man said as the pavement and street light glow world view started to fade to black.
