I know Liber is going to smack me or do something worse to me for leaving him like that with the turtle guy to take care of, but that sent I picked up was way to familiar. It smelled like my little sisters sent. I had to make sure I wasn’t imagining things. Did Ava really follow me? I thought she was sleeping when I left. I could have sworn she was anyways. Oh the mistress is going to kill me if she finds out I’ve been sneaking out and even worse Ava came with me.
I turned the corner and a strong mixture of Ava’s sent and the smell of blood was in the air. I could hear muffled crying coming from a pile of boxes. I walked over and kneeled down to some of the boxes and sure enough I saw a part of her wings slightly sticking out.
“Ava, it’s me, you can come out.” I said softly and moved one of the boxes. She had small cuts and scraps on her legs and arms. She was pretty bloody.
“J-John.” She looked at me and even more tears swelled up in her eyes. “I’m so sorry John, please don’t be mad at me.” She sobbed and I pulled her into a hug.
“I’m not mad at you. Everything will be okay, just relax.” I told her calmly as I rubber her back trying to get her to calm down.
After a few minuets her breathing started to slow down and we pulled away from each other. “Are you going to take me back home now?” She asked sniffling.
I wiped away her tears, “We’re going to go back to the rebels hid out first so I can take care of your cuts and we can get you cleaned up then we’ll head back home. Does that sound good?” I smiled softly at her.
“o-okay.” She nodded a little sniffling.
“Here I’ll give you a piggy back ride.” I said turning around so she could get onto my back.
Once she wrapped her arms around my neck I hooked my around under her legs and stood up and started walking back to where I last saw Liber. I didn’t know if he was still going to be there but it was worth a shot to see if he was.
“Is the hideout scary?” Ava questioned.
“No it’s not scary at all. It’s big though and you can get lost if you don’t know where your going.” I answered as I turned into the ally way where I left Liber and sure enough there he was standing in the ally way with his arms crossed and he was tapping his foot on the ground. The strange part was that the turtle guy was gone.
“It’s about damn time you got back damn kitten.’ Liber commented glaring at me.
“I’m sorry, I had to find my sister.” I answered and looked around. “Where did the turtle guy go?” I asked a bit confused.
“He woke up squished me and then wandered off to go find water in a drunk fashion.” He answered a little bit sour to the being crushed by a dazed turtle.
“Oh, well I’m sorry…that sucks.” I answered “Oh Liber this is my little sister Ava and Ava this is my partner Liber.” I introduced them.
“How the hell is a butterfly your sister?” Liber asked then sighed and rubbed his temples, “You know what forget I asked, It’s a pleasure to meet you Ava, now can we get going.” He said more then asked and turned around and started walking in the direction of the hide out.
“He’s kind of mean.” Ava whispered to me as I started to catch up to Liber.
“Na, he’s not that bad, I think he’s just in a bad mood because I left him for one and for two got squished by a turtle.” I smiled a little bit.
A silence fell between the three of us, “Where do you think the turtle guy went?” I asked trying to start a conversation.
“How the hell am I supposed to know? He went to find water and called me birdy as he stumbled away.” Liber answered.
“And you didn’t stop him. He could get hurt.” Ava commented.
“I wasn’t going to get crushed by a damn turtle again little missy.” Liber said sourly.
“Don’t be mean to her just because your mad Liber. Take a chill pill.” I stated not happy with his tone.
“You wanna dance kitten?” He glared at me.
“Is that the turtle guy?” Ava said interrupting our conversation.
We both looked up to see the turtle from before pounding on the side door to the hideout. “Um…yes.” Liber and I said in unison.
We wandered over to him. “Hey, did you want to get in?” I asked the turtle.
