I sighed and took another Advil. My head pounded angrily. It was three days after my return from vacation and I had eaten a bizillion of Suki's cup cakes. My love for cup cakes burned with the light of a thousand suns.
But Suki left, and Kai went to sleep. I was left with sugar withdrawls and Maki yelling about my health. It was just one of those things I would never be able to understand. How can someone yell for that long? Must be a human thing.
I didn't feel like sleeping, so I left Maki to go out onto the roof. It was already winter. Hard to believe. My skin itched from the cold. Most reptiles including my cousin Godzilla would go to sleep for the winter, but here I was awake and freezing. Sleeping the winter away didn't seem too bad.
The scars from before were disolving all except for the cut on my cheek from the kunai Kai had thrown. I had a feeling it would never go away. Oh well....life goes on.
A sound suddenly hit my ears. It was a bell chime far in the distance. I'm not sure what called me, but I stood and jumped down onto the next roof top. Something about it called me.....something.....
The nurse drove as fast as she could to the hospital. I tried to ask questions but she wouldn't let me. She said she had to focus on driving. I was guessing by her age that she just turned 16 and got her first car.
When we finally arrived she scooted me through crowds of doctors, nurses, and patients. Until she stopped at a door and looked in the window. She pointed at me to stay where I was, while she went in to check on him.
After a few seconds she came out and said for me to go in, but don't wake him.
"He needs his rest." she whispered before letting me enter the room.
You would think that when I walked in I would look at Houkou first, but instead I looked at the couch. It had a blanket on it. But not just any blanket, it had the same pattern as the my brother's blanket. We had donated to the hospital when he died....
Now my gaze slowly turned to Houkou. He was laying comfortably on the white bed. I realized now why this was a huge emergency, the bandage covering his eye was bloody. I shivered at the sight of blood. Not my favorite thing in the world...
I drifted over the couch, still staring at Houkou. When I sat down I looked at his good eye. It was gently closed. He almost looked relaxed, but I could tell he was in pain.
An older, much wiser, nurse walked into the room. She checked the clipboard before noticing me.
"Are you staying here for the night?" she asked. I nodded before I could think about it. No point going home really. I would just worry over Houkou too much.
"You can use that blanket right there then. It gets pretty cold here at night." she replied. I didn't nod. But she seemed to understand my silence.
When she left I felt the loneliness of pain. But looking at Houkou helped me relax.
The silence grew louder as I heard some of the lights switch off in the hallway. I looked at the window, the sun was just leaving our side of the world. I swiftly turned off the light.
I could still see Houkou. All of a sudden I felt a lump in my throat that wouldn't go down. As if I was choking on a gumball. I couldn't hold back the tears. I burst into cries.
At that very moment I realized that I cared for Houkou. More than a friend, heck...More than a lover! I loved him...I loved Houkou. But I couldn't stop crying. I felt so bad...Like this whole thing was my fault! I started a little chant in between the sobs, I kept saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" over and over.
But then I heard him grunt, "Sorry for what?"
Suki and I got into a conversation and somehow, this came out of it. It's funny actually. Anyway, on to the story part.

Why the heat had to go out at my house, I didn't know until I found a dead squirrel that was biting the cables. I sighed, “I guess we are going to have to find a place to stay...”
I went back into the house and took Chiyoko, whom was still sleeping, from her bed. I went over to the calendar to see if anyone would be available for us to go over. The sad thing was Shane, Hachi, and Shukaku were the only people available. “Might as well call Shane,” I said.
Shane was one of the remotely normal demons that were with us as far as I could see. I definitely did not want to go to Shukaku's again. Shukaku's house smelled of foul sake, how I loathed that drink, but the worst of all was his blind fangirl of a sister. I picked up the phone and dialed Shane's number. If Suki was over there, I'd go to Hachi's place. “Yo, who is this?” Shane answered.
“It's Kyuubi.”
“Why are you calling at this hour? Need anything?”
“Listen Shane, is Suki there?”
“No. She's at Hachi's place; you can call and talk to her there.”
“No! Listen, my heat's out over here cuz of a squirrel that chewed our wires. Can I come over?”
“Sure, Suki won't be over here for the rest of the night.”
“Okay, I'll be over in a few minutes. Later.”
“Later, Kyuubi.”
I hung up and sighed. I grabbed some Death Note manga I had meant to finish and left with Chiyoko.
When I got to Shane's house, he led me in. Since it was the only room available, I had no choice but to put my sister in Suki's room. Instead though, Chiyoko woke up and she walked into Suki's room as if she didn't know the difference in houses. I grabbed a blanket and sat in a reclining chair. Shane was watching something on TV, but I really didn't know much of what it was.
Later though, I dozed off and went to sleep. Then the next thing I know, I woke up to an annoying shout. Oh no, don't tell me! I opened one eye and it was her. Suki was back. “What the heck Shane! You went into my room and took my special blanket!”
“You know we only have 3 blankets in the house.”
”But, my blanket?! Which blanket is Chiyoko using?” she yelled.
This girl was annoying and a brat, but she was also nuts. “You… put Chiyoko in… my room… she’s gonna have nightmares.” she said in between laughs.
I looked questionably to Shane. “Suki’s room is probably the scariest place on the block for little kids and adults,” Shane answered.
She nodded and said that maybe she would show me her room sometime. I really didn't care, but I went along with it and nodded, but I turned to Shane, ticked off. “Shane you told me she was going to be at Hachi’s for at least the rest of the night,” I growled.
Suki growled, apparently challenging me. Then something really random happened. “Hey Suki, I bought some pixie sugar sticks why don’t you get a few,” Shane said.
She ran into the kitchen and I saw at least, maybe 22 sticks of the sugar. My eyes were amazed at how many there was (adding to that I love sweets now). Suki looked over at me and then got somewhat irritated from what I saw. ”Here, take it before I change my mind,” she said in a rudely, throwing at me.
I glared at her, but counted my blessings and opened the stick of sugar. The amazing thing was Suki ate those pixie sticks in ten minutes without any trouble of opening them. I decided to read some of my manga, because I wasn’t sleepy anymore.
5 minutes later, it started to get odd. “Hey Kyuubi!” Suki shouted.
‘Now what?’ I glanced up from my comic and looked at her.
“You know you’re the best Biju leader ever!” she said.
‘What the-?’ I thought.
My pixie stick dropped out of my hand and Shane started to chuckle. “Did she just compliment me?” I whispered to myself.
Suki nodded and I was shocked. What was going on?! I looked to Shane for an answer; after all, he knew Suki more than me. “Let me explain,” Shane said, “Sugar makes her be nice. It’s kind of like she’s drunk except she doesn’t remember she’s dating Isonade right now. She’s as sweet as honey in this state so… she gives out gifts, likes going on dates with guys she think are hot, and… I won’t say the last one because you might go deaf.”
I just sat there. ‘Woah, woah, woah, what the heck?!’
“Hey Kyuubi-kun you know that if you weren’t a grouch when we first met you would be perfect boyfriend material… and the fact that you’re as hot as hell!” she smirked.
‘What the hell?!’ I fell out of my chair; the world had gone insane.
Shane started laughing even harder. “Hey what about we go out to a restaurant tonight? Wait better yet! A bar/restaurant/gambling/candy store! Me knows you like candy!” she said, standing up smiling.
‘Did I just die and go to hell?’ I was lying on the floor, hoping she thought I was dead, but she wasn’t going to leave.
I stood up, rubbed my head, and I think my eye was twitching. “Are you… asking me out on a date?” I choked.
She nodded. How was I going to get out of this? I rubbed my head and Shane started to talk more. “Um Kyuubi… I got bad news. When in this state if she’s rejected… she’s as bad as a 1,000 foot Shukaku.” Shane said out of the blue.
My eyes widened. I was trapped. “I need help!” I said, dashing for the phone.
‘Who to call? Not Hachi, not Shukaku, I guess I’ll have to call him,’ I thought, and then started dialing a number.
Sosha answered his cell quickly. “Hello?”
“Sosha, it’s Kyuubi. I need you to come to Shane’s on the double.”
“Why?”
“I just need you to come here. I’ll explain later,” I said, hanging up.
