Kai was standing just standing; I turned around completely and stared at him. His hair was a brown mess on his head, but his eyes were green and powerful. He had his hands together in a hand sign of some sorts, but I knew that he hadn’t the power to do anything.
“Kai stop now,” I said, “too much stress could give you a heart attack.”
“Hachi,” Kai growled, “Why would you ever agree to help Kyuubi kill himself and then go and do that jutsu….It is unforgivable!”
“I’m sorry Kai, but it is for the besssst,” I answered.
“I won’t take that!” Kai said, “How can losing my one and only brother be for the best? I already lost grandpa! You are so blinded with selfishness! It’s unforgivable!”
“You keep using that word like you’re going to make me pay,” I smirked, “Sssshow me a good time then.”
I didn’t even see Kai move, but in less than half a second billions of throwing needles rained on me. I dodged them all, but before I could make a move, Kai was at me with them. I dodged and dodged, but he just kept coming.
He shouldn’t even be able to move. I thought. Has he managed to awaken that massive chakra he has locked away? No he still can’t use it. He just tapped into a vein of it. Not bad Kai, but you’ll need more than that to take me down.
I dodged and finally managed a counter attack.
“Paralyzing Snake Fang!” I yelled. It hit Kai directly, but it didn’t seem to affect him.
He’s managed to use his chakra as a barrier between me and him….like a shield. Kai this is indeed more than expected. When I’m gone, Kai will be able to take care of himself. I was right….I am no longer needed….
“Ice Wolf Fang!” Kai yelled.
What was that? I never taught him that move! Could this be? He’s managed to create a new move on his own? Kai you have grown so much…..
The ice he created became a three headed wolf and tried to land a bite on me. I dodged backwards and flipped to avoid the second attack. The third managed to slice my shoulder. I didn’t flinch, but as the jutsu faded, blood drenched the floor as well as Kai. His eyes widened in fear at what he had done.
“You spilled my blood Kai,” I smiled, “Finish me then.”
“Hachi,” Kai said, “No I could never…..No! I refuse to do anymore! Don’t make me do this Hachi! I didn’t….Stop!”
“You won’t kill me that way Kai,” I smirked, “And for letting your guard down, I’ll teach you one more lesson.”
I attacked with several kicks and fangs and throwing kunai like crazy. Kai dodged them all pretty well, but I could feel his weakness.
“No Kai….Don’t be weak,” I sighed, “Don’t be weak enough to live like life is worth living.”
“Hachi you b*****d!” Kai yelled, “Do you have any idea what you are saying! You’re the one that gave me the ten reasons to keep living! Never again! Don’t you say that ever again!”
“Yes that’s it Kai. Take me down with all that power you have stored up. Tap into that chakra that rivals Kyuubi’s. Release it and become the greatest demon ever,” I laughed as Kai sent another storm of needles.
“You aren’t going to kill me with those Kai,” I said flatly.
“I am not trying to kill you!” Kai yelled, “I just want you to stop!”
“I refuse to stop till I’m dead. Hey Kai do me a favor and when I’m dead burn my body in the woods somewhere sunny. “
“Hachi! I still need you! Do you have any idea what you are doing? If you leave me….I’ll be alone again!” Kai yelled.
“No, no, Kai you have it all wrong,” I said backing away to avoid some punches, “You’ll have Suki and Maki and all the others. You won’t be held back by me.”
In that instant, Kai’s chakra broke loose. It was a beautiful sight to be seen. I smiled at it in its full glory. His true form stepped forwards. A complete ten tailed wolf. His fur brown and black looked lovely, and his eyes steel grey were ominous. His paws were in proportion to his body now, and his nails were long and pointed.
His attacks were more brutal than ever. I dodged as he tried to tear at me. His speed was incredible and his agility was outstanding. I smiled as I continued to dance with death. Dodge, doge, right, left, up, now down, keep going or you’ll die. Watch for the claws. Oooh what beautiful teeth. Sorry, but I’m faster still. What a lovely dance.
“No!” Kai howled, “I don’t want this!! I don’t want to hurt Hachi!!!!!!!!!!! This is not me!!!!!!!!”
All the chakra seemed to condense back into Kai as he returned to his human form. The chakra was still there though, and I smiled. He had managed to unlock it all. There was nothing left for me to teach him….
“Kai what happened?” I asked, “I thought you were going to kill me?”
“Baka! Hachi!!!!!!!!!!!!” Kai said. He began to throw needles once again. I ran through the storm. This time one of his needles hit. It moved straight through the scapula and forcing me back and pinning me to a wall. My blood drenched the floor once again.
“Back to needles again?” I asked, “They are meant to stun Kai not kill.”
“I refuse….I refuse to kill you Hachi,” Kai huffed.
“Haha Kai I knew you had that kind of power!” I laughed.
“Hachi….all the power in the world….I would trade it to get you back,” Kai said sadly.
“Me? No!” I laughed, “You will do fine on your own. See this?” I said holding up the black knight with the free arm, “If a piece is not played well that it will lose. But if a piece is given up as part of a larger strategy then in the end the war will be won. Kai….I played my piece so you can take over…..”
Kai’s fist was at my jaw before I could finish. Suddenly Kyuubi was next to me.
"Hachi!" he barked, "We need to go now!"
"Sorry Kai, "I'll finish this later," I said. My hand ripped out the needle, and I spead off with Kyuubi.
