A Calling

I walked into my house. Light off. No car. Dirty dishes.

She hasn't come back.

I shivered as I realized that I was alone again. I spent the day with Kaku...we basically shopped a little at the mall...but he didn't talk much.

I tiptoed up the steps as if she was home. I went into my room and switched on a dusty light. I scanned the room, but as I did I tripped on something.

I cursed myself before falling on the bed and looking down at the object.
It was a frame I slammed on the ground when I was angry yesterday. I slowly picked it up to see a picture of my older brother and I. A picture that was taken a few days before he died.

I let the tears gather into my eyes, but I didn't cry. This wasn't the time to cry. I kept staring at his smile. It reminded me of Houkou's.

Just then I heard a car pull up into my driveway. I gasped a little, and started blinking to pull away from the tears.

I ran downstairs. Hoping it was her. But when I opened the door it was a different car. I skidded outside to greet whoever it was with a half heart.

It was a woman in uniform. Panic on her face.

"Are you Nekomata??" she gasped.

"Yes, and you are?" I asked staring.

"I'm a nurse at the hospital nearby," she began pointing down the street, "A friend of yours has just been wounded. You were on his emergency contact list."

"Who was it???" I asked grasping the situation.

"Houkou."
