It was pouring rain, but I didn't flinch. Maki and I sat together for a long time neither of us moving.
"Hachi I thought you didn't like water," Maki laughed.
"I'll be fine," I said not wanting to move. The water was taking a lot of my chakra away, but it was nice to have Maki sitting with me.
"But you'll get sick!" Maki protested. She grabbed my arm and pulled me to my feet. I sighed and stood up. The rain had pushed down my hair and made me look silly.
"Hachi we're both drenched. Let's get a hotel and get dry," Maki said.
"Fine," I answered.
We walked silently in the rain, and with every step my chakra was leaving in waves. It sucked. But having Maki around was nicer than usual. We entered a hotel with a hot tub.
I changed clothes and went to the hot tub. I sat down in it and nearly died from the heat. It was so nice on my skin but it burned.I put my head under water and relaxed.
"Hachi?" a voice asked knocking on the bathroom door. It was Maki. I sat straight up and got my pants on.
"What'sss wrong Maki?" I asked as she entered.
"Hachi the other bathroom is out of hot water....." Maki started.
"It'sss ok....I'm finished," I said opening the bathroom door about to leave.
"Hachi....thanks...." Maki said quietly.
"No problem!" I said smiling. I closed the door and went back to the room. There was a brief moment that I thought to go straight for the bed and sleep, but suddenly I thought of Kai. I flipped open my cell phone and diald his number.
"Hachi?" Kai asked. The reception was bad but I could hear ok.
"Hey Kai how are you?" I asked.
"I'm fine. I'm is Russia. I'm training hard," Kai answered.
"That'ssss good. Maki and I are in France," I said before thinking.
"Hachi? In France? with Maki? Are you two in love or something?" Kai asked nearly laughing.
"Ssssomething like that," I answered.
"Wait....are you serious?" Kai asked. I could hear him holding off a laugh.
"Yep...," I answered, "I love Maki....more than a sister."
"More than me...." Kai started. I could hear the fear in his voice.
"Kai I still love you, but Maki isss sssomething else. I can't compare the two of you," I answered.
"Oh...." Kai answered, "So does that mean I get to hand out wedding invites?"
"No."
"Aw Hachi you're no fun," Kai laughed.
"Later then Kai," I answered.
"If you have a kid name him Kai too!" were Kai's last words as he hung up. I was left with the feeling of sickness. I turned off the phone and lay in one of the beds near the window. It was still pouring, and I went to sleep.
"Hachi? Are you awake?" Maki was shaking me.
"Hu?" I asked.
"Are you awake?"
"I am now," I answered kind of irritated. I was having dreams about my mountains.
"Sorry....." Maki answered.
"It'sss ok," I laughed.
"You seemed so peacefull when you were asleep," Maki said quietly.
"I haven't slept like that in a while," I answered.
"Was it because of the rain?"
"Naw."
