I sat up in bed. It was the middle of the night, but something had gotten me up. I was still at the inn, and a large amount of snow was building on the bedroom window. I changed into regular clothes and went down the stairs. My ears caught what sounded like a fight going on. As I walked slowly down the stairs I began to hear more clearly what was being said.
“You stupid human! I am a superior half-demon! Give me the money or else!” a voice barked. My teeth were set on edge just hearing the voice.
“Please….Michel I need this money to keep the inn open…..please stop!” Sarah’s voice begged.
“Did you not hear me human! Give me the money!” the voice yelled even louder.
I couldn’t breathe. What was this tension I felt? It curled up inside me and left me feeling cold. I had to stop this! I ran to the main lobby just as the man named Michel hit Sarah. Michel was tall and thin. His black hair contrasted with blue eyes full of cold hate. I felt anger rush through me. No one can do that and get away! Sarah saw me and yelled.
“Kai! Get away! Please! He’ll hurt you!” Sarah begged.
“Sarah!” I yelled running towards her.
“So this is the young man that is staying here giving Sarah the money…..you are a nuisance! Die!” Michel ran at me with a kunai blade. I dodged, but he sped up. I sped up too. We both accelerated at the same rate! His speed could match mine! He attacked and I dodged.
“Kai please run!” Sarah screamed.
“Shut up human!” Michel said, “Or I will kill you too.”
“Stop hurting people!” I yelled making hand signs my fang turned into the air blades, “Twin air blades! Art of the frozen air! Blizzard!”
My jutsu turned into an explosion of snow that threw Michel through the roof and out of the inn. I sighed feeling the chakra leave. It was exhausting using so much chakra. I turned the blades back into the fang and sat down.
“I-I’m sorry I broke your ceiling,” I said breathing hard.
“Michel….you didn’t hurt him did you?” Sarah answered.
“No, I just blew him away. Who is he? And why was he hurting you Sarah?”
“Michel….is my brother…..” Sarah answered.
“W-w-what do you mean your brother?” I asked, “He was trying to hurt you!”
“Michel….is my brother….but we were born half-demons…..because our mother fell in love with a demon lord from around here…..and had me….and then had Michel when I was ten…..that demon lord hated us….Mother tried to protect us but she was killed….so we came back here…..but Michel soon became aware of his powers as a half-demon……and now he’s so confused….”
“That’s why you were afraid when I entered,” I said, “You thought I was Michel….”
“I can’t hurt him…..and I wouldn’t want to….”
“You’re a half-demon also….”
“Yes but I don’t have powers like Michel….I could never….”
“But you have them! You have to,” I answered, “You’re a demon too.”
“I can’t….hurt my brother….even if I could use my powers…,” Sarah was crying now.
“So he isn’t accepted….at all….and neither are you” I said.
“People don’t know I am half…..because I haven’t ever transformed….so I am safe….Michel on his twelfth birthday transformed fully…..”
“Sarah….I’m going to go out….I won’t be able to sleep and I need some air.”
“Kai….” Sarah said quietly, “What are you going to do? Kai come back! Kai!”
I left before I answered. I ran through the cold and ice chasing after the scent of Michel. He hadn’t gone as far as I had thought. I was soon right on him.
“Get away!” Michel yelled throwing a kunai.
“I know what you are!” I yelled.
“Congratulations so does everyone else in the whole dam town,” Michel yelled back.
“But you don’t know what I am!” I yelled.
This made Michel stop. He stopped and looked straight at me. I felt the icy blue eyes reading me trying to understand my meanings.
“I am a demon too,” I said, “more correctly….I am the reincarnation of the ten-tailed Jumata….I’m Kai.”
“Kai?” Michel repeated, “you are lying hahaha you don’t have that much chakra.”
“I began to build the ice around me into a slick bowl. I refused to let Michel get away. He was going to listen whether he wanted to or not.
