I ran to Maki and wrapped my arms around her.
"Hachi.....why.....why? Why? Why are they fighing!" Maki was crying now.
"Maki," I said quietly amongst the creams of hate and pain.
"Hachi.....why? why? why when they know it is so wrong," Maki asked again.
"I'm ssssorry Maki," I said.
"They won't stop.....until one is dead," Yuri's mother said quietly.
"Until....someone is dead?" Maki asked.
Just then Maki took off running.
"Maki!" I yelled but she would not stop. She ran straight into the fight. Yuri and Chiyoko were throwing powerful attacks.....and Maki ran right in the middle of the largest attack.
"MAKI!" I yelled.
"Maki..." Yuri said just loud enough for me to hear.
"Maki?" Chiyoko asked stopping.
The two stopped fighting completely.
"That girl," Yuri's grandfather started.
"Was human....." Chiyoko's gandfather ended.
"MAKI!" I yelled again. I sprinted to the place where I had seen her last. My heart was on fire. All the fighting seemed to stop. I felt tears running out of my eyes.
I found her body lying sideways on the ground her head cocked to the side. Blood was everywhere. I instantly started healing her.
"Maki hold on! Hold on!" I yelled.
"Hachi......I did it....." Maki said quietly.
"Maki!" I yelled again, "It'sss ok I can heal you! Maki ssstay with me!"
"Hachi.....I'm human......" Maki smiled blood running out of her lips, "I....can't take the damage.....that demons can...."
"Maki! Don't talk like that! I can fix it! Maki!" I yelled.
"Hachi....I loved you....." Maki answered.
Maki died in my arms after that. I couldn't move, couldn't breathe, but everything around me seemed to move. Yuri and Yoko seemed to stop fighting. Their grandfathers seemed to be making peace, but I couldn't move, couldn't breathe, just sat there with Maki in my arms.
