Francis carefully studied the spiderweb in the corner of his new room (Neka's old room)
He reached his hand up and let the spider crawl onto his fingers. He smirked as the spider's fangs broke his flesh. Little did the spider know that it's poison had no affect on Francis.
But his mind slipped into a memory. One he wished he could take away.
Matthew opened the door loudly, laughing softly. Francis was sitting on his bed, once meditating.
"You should have joined us Francis, Neka and I." Matt said, flopping onto his own bed.
"You know Father does not allow such things." he said, his eyes still closed.
"Aw, c'mon! Nekomata needs both of us..." he said, whispering the last 5 words.
Francis snapped one eye open. "Nekomata doesn't NEED us, YOU just can't take the responsibilities of being a middle child."
"At least I care about her. YOU just sit around with Father all day. No fun." he argued.
"At least I actually listen more carefully. Your demon should have had no trouble with that, but no. Somehow I listen better." Francis sighed, closing his eye.
"Just because I'm a bat, doesn't mean a stupid spider like you doesn't eavesdrop!" he snapped.
"You're going to get yourself killed. If she attaches herself to only one person, she could lose control of her demon and kill you. That is why I can't become close."
Matthew was dumbfounded. "You mean, just because you could lose your life, means that you...HATE her?? What a coward."
"THAT'S IT!" Francis yelled. He jumped up and shot spiderwebs across to Matt. Matthew then ripped open his 4 bat wings and broke the webs.
They fought some more before the biggest mistake ever happened. Nekomata walked through the doorway. She became angry at Francis for attacked Matthew. Her dark chakra boiled through her veins.
Her cat claws shot out at Francis, but missed and beheaded Matthew...
Francis cringed. He won't remember the reaction that Father had, and swooped him up and forced him to travel for over ten years. Nekomata couldn't remember what had happened, and was told Francis had killed Matthew.
The biggest mistake was not being there for Nekomata...
