I've been doing some serious digging for good topics to talk about with my awesome trainers here and I keep running into this and I want to know what you guys think.
As the pokedex entry states: "Because it never removes its skull helmet, no one has ever seen this Pokémon's real face." - pokemon red and blue
"Wears the skull of its deceased mother. Its cries echo inside the skull and come out as a sad melody." - pokemon Yellow
"Always wears the skull of its deceased mother on its head and never shows its face. It cries mournfully in the moonlight." - pokemon stadium
- all sourced from bulbapedia
So I give you the kangaskhan theory.
Some fans believe if the mother kangaskhan dies her child then gets malnourished and its spine deforms. Once the mother body decays, they believe it takes its mothers skull and wears it as a helmet and carries her femur as a weapon. Thus becoming a cubone.
Now lets look at something here. The body types of baby kangaskhan and young cubone are quite similar, and rumor has it that the creators of pokemon intended for the final evolution for cubone to be a kangaskhan. However, do to time constants and other problems they took it out of the game. The code however, was still in the game for this to happen...so they simply moved the unused code somewhere else in the game. This my dear trainers is how we get Missingno.
Also to further prove this look at the shape of the kangaskhan's head and the shape of the skull cubone wears. They are incredibly similar in shape and size.
It's now time I would like to point out this fun little tidbit of information. Kangaskhan is a completely female pokemon race. Cubone however can be male or female. So how can this myth be true? It's obviously fake right? Not necessarily, did you know that there are some animals in the animal kingdom that can change their sex if certain conditions are met? I believe it is the sun fish and a type of grouper that can do such a thing. If a real animal on our planet can do this...is it really that strange to think a pokemon could do this as well?
It's built in our dna. The need to reproduce and live on. Even if we are left with nothing, even if we have no where to go, we always have the will to survive and live on. The will to make future generations. It's also a well known fact that before a child fully develops in the mother's whom we are all female. Not until we can develop further do some children develop male organs and become male. This is real science my trainers. Feel free to look it up if you don't believe me.
So I leave you with this...what do you think? Do you think this particular pokemon myth is true? Or can you disprove it? I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts in the comments below or in messages.
