Victor looked at himself, his powers had increased greatly in the past few weeks
"Niddhogg is dead and I'm still alive. . ." he walked along a mossy path (had had long since grown tired of looking at those old scrolls, after all hadn't they been the ones he had tried to translate over a thousand years ago?), looking at the scenery as it unfolded before him.
His hair whipped around in the wind; it wouldn't stop growing. He hated it. Long hair may look good but it wasn't worth the effort to maintain! Victor went back to brooding. Was Niddhogg really gone? Was that it? No confrontation? Somehow it felt. . .empty.
Victor wanted to leave, he wasn't suited here. Everything he touched seemed to turn sour.
"Emotions, Victor, are useless, they get in the way. Emotions are weakness."
An image formed in his head; A girl laying on the ground, beaten and bloody. A bald man was standing over her, pulling his pants up.
"She was too emotional, Victor. This is what happens when you disobey."
A hand on his shoulder. Don't be bad or they'll get you. . .
Victor gasped for breath, he trembled all over. Forget it. Push it back. Don't let it come out. Emotions are weak. Inhaling he calmed himself and stopped trembling.
How long had it been since that place had burned to the ground? Come to think of it, it had been near here. . .Victor looked around, searching. Ah, there it was; that stone cross. He walked up to the enormous structure. Circled it until he found what he was looking for. A little indentation in stone. Victor touched his hand to it, there was a metallic click deep within the monument, and a door slowly swung open. He stepped in; darkness closed around him. He felt a a scream trying to claw it's way out.
More memories came crashing in his head; "Don't make a noise Victor." A hand over his mouth. . .
Victor collapsed. His head was throbbing. The pain was unbearable.
