Victor -- Losing Strenght

Victor looked up at Maria's hazy form. His vision was impaired by a red fog that seemed to overwhelm everything else.
"Is there something I can do to help?" She asked, her tone was very concerned.
A rasping laugh erupted from Victor's throat. This was why he didn't like helping people, they always felt like they needed to repay the favor.
"The little girl, what's her name?" The words seemed to come from somewhere deep inside Victor's chest. It wasn't something he had meant to ask. Damn.
"Her name's Cio and she's going to be alright." Maria bent down and looked at Victor.
The sprawling figure smiled, closing his eyes. Cio, that was a cute name. "I need to somehow regain all the blood I lost today. This has been too much for me, I'm afraid. I was an idiot for trying to help anyone. Self preservation is what I need to think of first and foremost; remember that." He said, suddenly addressing Maria. "I need to get back my strength so I can terrorize some helpless creature." The wicked grin that spread across his face showed Victor's canine like fangs.
Maria looked astounded, "are you a. . ."
"A vampire, yes."
