Screaming, I could feel the tears streaming down my face. I could feel myself fading. IF this persisted, I would cease to exist. Though, that seemed much more appealing than doing Satan's dirty work. If I had to choose between death and being his bidder, I prayed death would come quickly.
Shunsuke. was my last thought as the darkness beckoned. It seemed all too alluring and I was ready to take the plunge under the darkness.
I heard the door bursting open. "Dia take care of kayden, I will take care of him myself." Shunsuke's voice. It couldn't be him. Why was here? Suddenly, Shunsuke appeared in my line of sight, pushing the hollow away from me.
"My Lady!" Dia cried when she saw the condition I was in. "What has he done to you?" She flew to the most prominent mark, the one in my neck. It was a pretty deep gash, and it was spewing essence out quite profusely.
"Why did you bring him here?" I said, though my voice was weak and soft. "His air will be running out soon."
"He made me, My Lady," she replied. "And, quite frankly, if it meant saving you, I was didn't mind following along."
I wasn't able to reply. Shunsuke walked over to the table. He huffed his breathing getting uneven. "We have to get out of here," he said, picking me up and holding me bridal style. He turned and took off down the corridor.
"You're never going to make it out of the building," I whispered.
Whether he heard me or not I wasn't sure. He just kept his eyes peeled in front of him as he ran as hard as he could. I could see he was running out of oxygen. I was beginning to get worried, more so than I already was.
He turned down a corridor, where we were ambushed. He set me down against the wall and held up his sword. As if he actually knew how to use it. I wanted to laugh at the sight, but now certainly was not the time. Sitting up, I watched as he fended off one of the attackers, but soon he would be overpowered.
I saw a sword go through his shoulder, and he cried out in pain, dropping to his knees, and falling onto his side. Two of the demons, one on either side of him, stepped forward, ready to skewer him.
"Shunsuke, no!" I cried, jumping forward, taking the brunt of the attack from behind, and putting up a barrier to save him from the other side. The sword was stuck in my back as I dropped to my knees, still maintaining the barrier, though it was getting rather difficult.
Shunsuke fell onto his back, his head at my knees. Dia flew around frantically, unsure of what to do. "I'm so sorry, Shunsuke," I told him, tears beginning to form in my eyes yet again. Shunsuke was spitting up blood, the spell completely wore off and he started gasping for breath.
The sight wrenched at my heart, and I knew of only one way to help him. Humans could breath in essence, as it held special properties. I grabbed his face and placed my mouth over his and released my essence into him. He gulped down the essence, though I could see in his eyes he didn't want to take the essence, as he knew it was making me even weaker.
Dia couldn't produce another portal, her powers needing to be repowered after creating such a large portal for Shunsuke to have gone through to get here. I had enough power for a portal, but I didn't have the ability to get up and move us through it.
Using my abilities, I spoke in Shunsuke's head. You need to take a deep breath. I'm going to open a portal. You have to get up and run through it. Leave me behind. I'll close it after you have gone through.
He shook his head, but I moved my mouth away and summoned the portal right inside the barrier. Shunsuke got up, and grabbed me and carried me through the portal. I was conscious long enough to close the portal as soon as he had stepped through. I was fading fast, and I knew I had only seconds to live. But, it would be in Shunsuke's arms.
