I was being pulled out of the light. I could feel someone holding me in their arms. Opening my eyes, I found Shunsuke holding me tightly, as if he'd never let go. As Dia gasped, Shunsuke looked up and smiled softly. "Kayden," he said, his voice filled with relief.
Then, he leaned in, placing his lips atop mine. Though, this was not like normal. Not like when I usually took his essence. No. This time, it was real. This was a real kiss. So, did this mean he knew our souls were bonded, that he wanted to be with me forever?
Whatever it was, I didn't have time to think about all of it, not right now. Shunsuke's kiss was deep and passionate. I could feel the sadness he had felt and the relief he was feeling now. I could feel the happiness emanating out of him.
I smiled into the kiss before I returned the kiss. I put my hands up to his face, caressing his cheek with my fingers. I could feel that his cheeks were wet from fallen tears. He had cried over me? No one had ever done that for me. This meant more to me than anything I had ever experienced before.
With new found energy, I sat up into him, kissing him vigorously, my hands moving to his shoulders before I realized what we was doing. His hands were on my hips, holding me against him. It must be the bonded souls wanting to be together.
I pulled back, even though it was difficult to do. I sighed as I rested my forehead against his. "I hope you know what you're getting yourself into," I told him, breathing heavily.
He smiled. "I'm more than ready for what is to come. As long as we're together, we'll be fine."
I grinned, gazing into his eyes. "Thank you for saving me. Bonding us like that was smart thinking."
"Bonding? I thought I just gave you my essence," he frowned.
My smile faded as I got off of his lap. Sitting up weakly, I continued, "You just bonded us. You made me human. I thought that was what you wanted."
"Wait, you're human?" he ran a hand through his hair. "How? Why?"
I was growing slightly worried at his reaction. "You committed something no one has ever done, something that is not supposed to have happened. You just split your soul in two, giving me half. Thus, turning me human."
"What about your powers? The demon hunting?"
"I have all of my powers, but I now have human limitations. Nothing's changed," I told him. "I'm still me."
"I know," he said. "It's just a lot to take in."
