Chapter 69

As I entered the castle, I was greeted by several guards. "We were expecting you," one of the demons smiled creepily at me.

I frowned, "Were you now?" I walked up and stood right beside him. He was taller than myself by a good foot.

"Our Lord told us you would be coming to him soon. A little sooner than we all anticipated, but you're here and that's all that matters." Another demon appeared at this one's side and grinned like he had a secret he couldn't wait to tell.

"Satan has been informed of your arrival. He wishes to speak with you," he told me, gesturing with his huge ax to follow him down the corridor to the large double doors that loomed over us.

Pushing them open, the demon let me walk in before himself. The room was huge, with an arched ceiling. Velvet drapes covered the huge picture window, and there was furniture scattered throughout the room.

Satan was laying on one of the sofas near the window, enjoying the sun's warm rays. He looked up with a smile on his face. "Kayden Ghile. How I've been waiting for you. So much better that you came to me than to make me have to find you," he said slyly as he swung his legs onto the floor and stood up, greeting me in the middle of the room.

He grabbed my hands and kissed them. "Are you ready?"

"Right now?" I asked, more than a little shocked he wanted to get started so soon.

"Why put off the inevitable?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

I shrugged. I supposed that was true. It wasn't like Shunsuke was going to come after me, and my parents didn't have a clue what was going on. What was the point?

I nodded and followed him down into the basement. I hoped the conversion would be fairly quick.
