My family took the news fairly well. All of them congratulated us, giving me hugs. I saw my mother go over to Shunsuke and pull him into a hug. I could see the surprised expression on his face before he hugged her back.
My father gave me a hug, smiling. "Are you really ok with this?" I asked him. Even if he opposed, I would have still gone through with it, but it was sure nice to know he backed us and supported our decision.
He nodded, kissing my forehead. "If this is what you want, and he'll make you happy, what more can I ask for?" he said.
"I love you, Daddy," I said, hugging him. I had missed this in all the years I had been away. Sure, I had come back, but never had we had this touching of a moment. I thanked Shunsuke for softening me up.
My father released his hold on me so that he could go have a word with Shunsuke. I turned to Shane who hugged me in a big bear hug. "I thought you would have been married after the twins. Do you have any idea how hard it was to find them suitors?" he teased, grinning cockily at the two of them.
"Believe me," I told him, "I thought I would never settle down."
Elainea kissed me on the cheek. "We're so proud of you."
The twins hesitated before hugging me as well. "Are we good?" I asked them.
They exchanged looks before smiling at me. "We're sorry for how we acted," Briona said, speaking for the both of them. "We would like to make amends, to start over."
I nodded. "I'd like that very much." I glanced over my shoulder at Shunsuke and my father. I could catch bits and pieces of what they were saying.
"I would like your permission to marry kayden, sir," Shunsuke said, bowing politely. I smiled at how respectable he was being. Surely my father would be impressed by this. "I know I made mistakes in the past, but I learned from them, and they will never be repeated."
My father nodded. "I respect that you have recognized your mistakes. We all make them, even I have. But, it's seeing what needs to be changed and then doing it." My father placed a hand on Shunsuke's shoulder affectionately. "I believe you are the right man for my Kayden. You will both grow together and lead healthy, loving lives."
Shunsuke smiled happily. "I appreciate that, sir." My father nodded before turning and joining my mother on the couch. Shunsuke came up beside me and we took a seat on the love sofa together.
"So, what are you two going to do now?" Shane asked as he and my sisters sat down on the remaining chairs.
I looked at Shunsuke and shrugged. "Well, Shunsuke still has a few months left of schooling. We should probably go back so you can finish high school and college. And from there we'll decide when it happens." Shunsuke nodded in agreement.
"But, when will you hold the marriage ceremony?" my mother asked.
"How about after you graduate? That way you don't have the stress of worrying about setting up for a wedding during school," I suggested.
"Sounds great," he nodded.
"When are you going to have kids?" Shane asked. "I want to spoil my niece or nephew!"
"You're just going to have to wait awhile with that one," I told him, shaking my head. Sometimes Shane was just a little too crazy, even for his own good. But, I was sure happy everyone seemed okay with Shunsuke and I marrying. I leaned into Shunsuke and enjoyed the day with him. We could go back to the human world tomorrow morning.
