The festival was gorgeous. I had never really been to one before, at least, not with friends where I was having fun and laughing. Koori was trying very hard to get Hyaku to loosen up and to just have some fun. I smiled innocently between the two.
The fish booth looked like fun, and I admired Hyaku for trying to get a fish for me, though he failed pretty badly. I had the opportunity to beat him at something, and honestly, I enjoyed it.
"Well now we know: demons are not good at everything," Hyaku said as he moved my bangs away from my face, giving me a quick kiss on the lips.
I smiled up at him, truly happy for the first time in awhile.Licking my lips, I turned and together we continued down the street, looking into the different booths, stopping to buy various foods. What I looked forward to the most was the fireworks at the end of the night.
I leaned into Hyaku as we walked, enjoying having someone to be with. I had never been able to really be with someone before. It was nice.
"A penny for your thoughts," Hyaku said, smiling when I glanced up at him. "You looked way lost in thought. What are you thinking about?" He put his arm around my shoulders.
I smiled. "I was just thinking about how happy I am being here.... with you," I replied shyly, looking away, unable to keep eye contact when talking about something so embarrassing. I wasn't a person that could freely just talk about my feelings.
He squeezed my shoulders gently and chuckled, a smirk planted on his face. "Mind elaborating?"
I glanced up for a second, catching the look on his face. "You enjoy watching me embarrass myself, don't you?" I gave him a mock angry look.
"It's rather comical, yes," he admitted too happily. I hip bumped him playfully, laughing along with him for the first time in a long while.
