"Hey, is this seat taken?" a voice asked, catching my attention, startling me slightly. I was really on edge, and I needed to calm myself down. This kid wasn't after me. He had no idea what I had done.
I looked up and shrugged, "No," I answered, moving over slightly to give him more room.
He sat down as the bus shifted into gear and continued on its way. There was a silence between us, and I turned and stared at the scenery going by through the window. Japan was so pretty; I figured that I'd really like it here.
"Hey i think i saw you in that school we passed a block away," he said, breaking the silence between us.
I turned and looked at him. He looked to be about my age with shaggy black hair that I noticed had a blue tint to it when the sunlight struck it in a certain way. I had never seen something like that before. His eyes were so innocent and he seemed like a good kid, not someone that would want to get involved in my mess.
"No I don't," I answered, shaking my head. So he was one of those people that can't stand silence.
"Oh sorry, I am Arata, by the way," he said as he looked over my shoulder at the buildings behind me.
"Aaralyn," I said. I didn't really want to indulge him and make him interested in me. I wanted to keep him at a safe distance.
"Well i hope to see you again, Aaralyn," he said as he got off the bus. I watched him as the bus pulled away. He walked into the medical university. So, he was going to go to college to be a doctor, huh? Must be a smart kid.
Arata, huh? In another life, I may have pursued you further, but I was not lucky enough to be granted such a life. Sighing, I sank back into the seat and waited for the bus to stop at my destination.

I found a cheap hotel to stay in until I made enough money to buy a better place to stay. Sighing, I decided to go for a walk, get to know my surroundings. Locking the door behind me, I slung my pack over my shoulder and headed out the door.
The neighborhood was shady, I couldn't deny that, but it was better than where I had grown up for the latter part of my life. I walked for a few hours, just going where ever my feet would take me.
I ended up in front of a university. Looking at the sign, I wondered what it would like to be in college. Sighing, I decided to hail a cab back to the motel since I had no idea where I was. Most of the ride was quiet, but when the driver took a turn a little too sharply, he over compensated by swerving back into the middle of the street, causing another car to drive on the opposite sidewalk to get out of the way.
I was frozen in my seat, scared of what was to come, but he managed to straighten us back out and we kept going, but as he crossed the intersection, a car T-boned us so hard, it flipped the car. I remember hitting my head once on the window before my eyes closed and darkness consumed me.
