Fun Times with Griffin!

Confrontation with Sebby

Watching Griffin with a condescending gaze, Sebastian was obviously trying to judge him from a distance. The Wyvern was growing weary of the pointless staredown, and, fury burning deep in his stomach, he strode towards the leech, sweeping his coat out behind him.

“What is your problem?” Griffin snapped fiercely, silencing everyone on the rooftop. Their eyes swept over the two of them, and, apparently realizing it was best not to interfere, they moved for the stairs, their footsteps growing softer quite rapidly. The vampire’s eyes went wide, and, acting oblivious, he raised his hands in surrender.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he excused, glancing away. Griffin could sense his lie as clear as day. Or, in his case, as clear as night.

“Why do you continue to stare at me as though I disgust you?” he barked, hissing through his teeth.

“It isn’t that you disgust me, it’s that your actions are simply repulsive,” Sebastian explained, placing his hands in the pockets of his jacket. Confused, Griffin narrowed his eyes to mere slits, clenching his fists as tightly as he could.

“Elaborate,” he snarled, eying the vampire down. He shrugged casually.

“You treat everyone here as if they don’t deserve your attention, like you’re better than them,” he spat, showing a side Griffin had not known he could possess: anger. “And you act like you don’t see or hear anyone. Like Acacia or Karin. Or anyone. You treat them like dirt, and it pi**es me off that you think you can get away with it.” In a blind rage, Griffin advanced, grabbing his throat and lifting him off the ground, hissing in his face.

“How dare you accuse me of such horrible actions,” he growled, his predatory nature exposing itself. “You do not know what I have been through. But I suppose you know it all, do you not? You are one of those idolized sparkling pixies, are you not? A vile blood sucker who steals the very liquid that gives life. Yet I am the villain here.” At that, his fangs flashed, and he wrenched his attacker’s hand from his throat, landing on the balls of his feet.

“I don’t antagonize my friends,” he retorted harshly. “I don’t make enemies out of people who care about me. And I haven’t had human blood for years.” Griffin laughed; he could not help it. He had to be lying.

“That is rather amusing,” He choked out, rubbing the back of his neck. “I am absolutely positive that you have remained abstinent from human blood, seeing as you need it to live. Besides, I am sure you must have had a little taste from the rabbit girl.”

“Angst, palpable and intense
A battle for dominance.
Testosterone fills the air
The winner shall be of prominence.”

The rose girl’s melodic voice reached their ears, and Griffin snapped around to face her, a snarl on his lips.

“Shut up, insolent girl,” he growled, too angry to monitor his words. “Your pointless rhymes serve no purpose here.” Her shoulders slumping, her expression appeared hurt, but she quickly masked it, managing a half-hearted scowl.

Out of nowhere, an ice cold hand collided with his cheek, his head following the motion. Slowly, he returned his gaze to the vampire, growling under his breath.

“Don’t talk to her like that,” he ordered forcefully, his eyes as cold as his skin. “This is exactly what I was talking about. You act as though you own the place.” He looked past Griffin to the girl, his expression softening. “Acacia, votre poésie est fantastique, mais ce n'est pas le temps, d'accord?” She nodded briskly, clutching her notebook to her chest and racing down the stairs.

“Why do you care so much?” the wyvern questioned, sincerely curious. “You do not need to worry about the sanity or well being of others, yet you do anyway. What is your reason for doing so?” Sebastian could see that he had calmed down considerably; the girl had done nothing wrong, and he realized he had no right to lose his temper.

“Because I genuinely care,” he responded, stepping back and grasping the railing behind him. “Everyone has the right to be happy. Plus, I’ve done bad things in my past. I figure I could stand to make up for them.” That, Griffin could understand.

“I have done regrettable things, as well,” he replied softly, brushing past his fellow member to grab the railing, staring off into the starlit sky. “I just assumed that they were unforgivable. I, in the least, will never be able to forgive myself for the deeds I have done. It never occurred to me that I could redeem myself.”

“Anything is possible, Griffin,” Sebastian answered, peering at him out of the corner of his eyes. “You need to work on your temper, however. It can get a bit out of control.” The temperamental reptile almost grew angry again, but he knew Sebastian was right. Griffin nodded, averting his gaze.

“I am sorry for acting so rude,” he apologized softly, turning to face Sebastian. “To you and everyone. I just have had a lot of things on my mind lately with the mysteries and my past... It is not an excuse, but it is the truth. I hope you will forgive me.” He smiled kindly, nodding.

“Of course,” the vampire immediately responded, his voice sincere as always. “Though I do need to ask you one favor.” Intrigued, Griffin cocked his head, peering expectantly at him. Grinning, he continued, “Stay away from Karin. She doesn’t need any of the stress you give her.” Feeling strangely powerful, Griffin stood straight, turning to face him completely.

“I do not know if I will be able to fulfill that promise,” he taunted, baiting him. “I feel as though I may be able to give her more than you ever could.” Immediately, he shrugged off his coat, allowing his wings to spread. Glancing pointedly at them, he crossed his arms over his chest.

Naturally, he was not really interested in the rabbit girl; her timidness and ability to be frightened easily irked him greatly. While she was a good friend, he had no interest in her romantically. He was only taunting him for the fun of it.

“You want to go, Dragonboy?” Sebastian dared, his voice low.

“Any day, Sparkles,” Griffin retorted, glaring down at him.

“May the best man win.”

“I see only one man, and I fully intend to succeed.” Their heated, good-natured staredown lasted nearly a minute before an ariose voice called out from the darkness.

“So much angst! I love it! You are magnifique!”

“Acacia!” they shouted together, laughing shortly after as they did so.

Who Griffin thought would be his biggest rival turned out to be the first person he could relate to. The world works in mysterious ways, does it not?
