I rubbed my eyes as the sun poked through my window.
I yawned and looked around my bright blue room. Akira allowed us to design it however we wanted. Lucky me! I painstakingly searched my wardrobe, finally fixating on a blue sundress.
I was still getting used to not being near the ocean. It was almost like experiencing jet lag. But I'd just have to make the best of it.
Now, to socialize! Oh yes, I was BORN to live in close proximity with other people.
I raced down the stairs, excited to start my day, and spotted Griffin sitting on the couch, looking severely depressed. So, nothing short of normal.
"What's got you down? I started. He glared, as if daring me to sit down. I'm not one to back down from a challenge, so I took up the invitation.
"Is it possibly the lack of the ocean? Because I'm told that there is a fix for that, called 'Virginia Beach,' but I have yet to see it, and hey, what if Seabass was just lying to me like a big liar pants? 'Cause that would stink. I would be up the creek without a paddle, if you know what I mean. Or more like, up Virginia without a beach. So-"
Griffin interrupted me. "Listen, I am not really in the mood for all this."
"Uh, thank you, Captain Obvious. Hence me getting you in the mood. So how about that stuff we had for dinner last night? I mean seriously, my Mum-"
"Perhaps I was not making myself clear.", he growled. "Look, Smurfette, you are adorable and full of joy."
I smoothed my hair and smiled. "Why, thank you."
"I hate joy and all things adorable. So BACK THE HECK OFF before I do something I will regret."
"Goodness, some people." I huffed. "Whatevs, I don't need you! I've got trillions of people dying for my attention!" Perfect timing, two young girls walked in to the living room, grasping hands.
"HIII!" I called. "What are your names?"
They looked at each other before one replied. "Rano and Tono."
"Oh. My. Goodness!! Are you girls twins?" I interrogated.
They nodded.
"I absolutely 100% LOVE twins!! My baby brothers and sister are actually triplets. So, not really twins. But it's a little bit simalar. And I always wanted a twin, I think it would be so cool!"
The girls giggled, and one play slapped the other, saying "She's only trying to be nice." And with that, they turned away and were gone.
"Okay, BYEE!!" I called after them. What were they talking aboout? Maybe they were telepathic..?
Just then, Akira strolled through, obviously doing something important. "Akira, would you-" I began.
"Not in the mood." she responded instantly.
"Man, whatever happened to Southern Hospitality?!" I screamed back. What is WITH THESE PEOPLE?!
I flopped down on the ground and gave a sigh. I missed my family. I missed my friends. I missed the sun and sand of California. But most of all, I missed the ocean, the only place I really felt at home.
