Akira
So many days passed, maybe about a month, after spending that night with Griffin and getting caught by my brother that I didn’t really know what was going on. I mean, I started training to keep myself in check, especially after Charlie -after he calmed down- told me what was going on with the small little HQ building of Xenogenesis Laboratories that was only a couple of miles from here. Apparently, he had gotten horrible information about Nodin’s mother being there and she wasn’t actually there. She was up in the Main HQ that was in Canada, out in the middle of fucking nowhere. He also then caught me up with Nodin and what was going on with his father and mother and why we needed them so much because I was absolutely confused at first when he started in. Basically, within about a month or so, we were going to storm the castle, or at least, that was what Charlie and I came up with after talking, but we had to get everyone’s butts in gear if we were going to do that.
After I was left alone with all of the new information, I sat myself down in the meeting room and started to make some charts on the whiteboards that were around the room. I then asked Charlie to bring some TVs into the room that were hooked up to cameras outside of the bunker that was able to tell me what was going on on the outside and if any XL members were coming our way. Thankfully, none.
As Charlie was putting in the last TV, I turned around to see him because he grunted in pain. I smirked a little when I saw that he dropped the TV on his foot, but then watching how much energy he was putting into this and how dark his eyes were from staying up so late, I felt bad. He's been having to do so many surgeries lately, by which I think he was done, and he's been staying up late talking to Nodin's father and figuring out strategies that they should teach the members of the MCC. He's been also helping out Griffin with Cyrus as much as he can after he finally accepted Griffin being my boyfriend.
“Here, Charlie, let me help,” I sighed partly as I walked over to him and helped him lift the TV off of his foot and then place it on the wall. Once we screwed it in and it was all hooked up, I turned to him. All he was doing was staring at me.
“Why is that nobody around here treats me or Christina normal?” Charlie asked suddenly and I blinked.
“Maybe they just think of you as another scientist, as well as Christina, and they don’t know what to do. Many of them are regaining their memories, Charlie,” I said softly to try not make him angry, because I can see he was getting agitated with every minute and that couldn’t be helped.
“I know, I know... It’s just that Christina can’t handle much anymore, especially since she was a former X.L. scientist. Nobody understands her thoughts or even trusts her, so she’s been blowing up at them. It’s not like she means to either,” Charlie sighed as he turned around and put his back against the wall and slowly slid down it until he hit the floor. I took a seat right down beside him, the cold floor soon hitting my butt.
“I understand why she would blow up, especially if she isn’t being treated like she should. I’ll have a talk with the MCC soon about this. I need to talk to them anyways,” I told Charlie, trying to help him and it seemed to alleviate some stress from him.
“Thanks, Akira... You should talk to Cyrus. He seems to be really interested in the woman who’s dating his brother,” He laughed a little and I shrugged.
“I need to talk to him, you’re right, but maybe not for that specific reason. I wanted to see his side of things.” This made Charlie smile.
“Oh, so you’re finally turning over to the scientific dark side, huh? Curiosity always kills the cat, you know... well, more like the idea of Schrodinger's cat does that instead,” Charlie smirked and I smiled.
“Well, either way, we need to get things into gear. I need to start training with everyone, get them up to par before the big fight. Maybe I just need to tell them first.”
“Yeah, maybe you should, Sissy,” Charlie smiled, seeming relieved that I was finally doing something now instead of just sitting around, staring at a wall.
“Why don’t you take a nap, bro? It seems like you need it,” I told him with a smile and he just nodded with a yawn, got up, and left the room. That was probably the most I was going to hear out of him in the next few days.
Either way, I needed to round up the gang and then talk to Cyrus privately. I know probably most of the members will want to set up a training session with me and a few others like Griffin, Dante, and Sebastian. Odd how I compare my strength to the men around here. Oh well. Just shrug that odd thought off.
Once I found Griffin, I asked him to help round up everyone, and he stared at me for a second and then gave a small smile and helped round everyone up. It ended up being in the cafeteria area where I addressed them all and told them what was going on and what we were going to do. Some seemed uneasy, some seemed scared, but most seemed relieved that we were doing this. It woke everyone up at least into reality instead of the being trapped in their minds. Once they all agreed, many of the girls came up to me and asked me to train them. I agreed, and that starting tonight, we would start training and I would start training with Alice first. A lot of the guys went to Dante, Griffin, and Charlie, who decided to show up last minute probably before he was going to take a nap.
I then saw Griffin’s eyes drift to the corner of the cafeteria once most of the members exited the cafeteria, with some staying in it to go and get food, and I followed Griffin’s gaze. There was Cyrus. I took a deep breath in, holding in my past anger, and walked over to him. I heard Griffin silently follow me, probably to make sure I didn’t do anything to Cyrus.
As Cyrus continued to poke at his food and slowly eating it, I sat down in front of him and just looked at him. He was very similar to Griffin, but I could spot obvious differences, besides personality. The way he eated, the way he observed everyone, the way he looked at Griffin differently from time to time. His hair was shaggy and mangled compared to Griffin’s. Everything he did, every move, was so different but with how similar he was to Griffin, since they were twins, just made me wonder so much about him. His burn scars though... they made me wonder how he survived that fire that one night Griffin told me about... the night Griffin blamed himself for Cyrus’s death, but here Cyrus was.
“Miss Corners, may I ask why you are staring at me?” Cyrus suddenly asked as he poked at the corn on his plate. I slightly jumped at the sudden question.
“I was just noticing how similar you and Griffin are, and seeing the differences as well." This made him perk up a bit. His gaze drifted from his food to me.
"The differences between my brother and I? Pray tell," Cyrus asked and I blinked as I saw Griffin in my peripheral sit down a table across from us, listening in.
"Well, you don't really know how to talk to people whereas Griffin didn't really know how either until he learned. You are very, very, very calculative and you have a similar attitude towards science that my brother has. You can also be cold, like Spock from Star Trek." What was curiosity on Cyrus's face disappeared. He just frowned and was, I think, about to retort back but I held up a hand.
“Look, I came over here to apologize for choking you about a month ago and not listening to why you even decided to start Xenogenesis... well, more like the idea, but still,” I sighed as Cyrus now stared at me, unblinking.
“Apology accepted, even though you had full reason to do what you did, even without knowing the full truth behind my actions,” Cyrus with gritted teeth said as he tried to relax by looking away from me and over at Griffin.
“I have something I want you to look at,” I told him as I dragged out a crumpled piece of paper out of my pocket and unfolded it carefully. Griffin got up and came closer to see what I was showing Cyrus. I handed the piece of paper to him and he took it carefully with an odd look on his face, possibly pondering why I would even crumple a piece of paper.
He stared at the piece of paper for a few minutes as I spoke.
“I was just doodling a few days ago out of boredom, trying to figure out how the club could get faster and stronger for the fight ahead, and I figured that something like this could be used to help us out,” I stated as Cyrus continued to stare at the piece of paper.
“A device to at least make one faster in speed, not stronger. That is only means of exercise for strength, but this surely, for those who aren’t fast enough, to increase their speed. A microchip implanted in the wrists and the ankles would surely suffice to increasing speed in both the arms and the legs.” Cyrus then started to smile. “If done correctly, it would make one’s speed increase but not to an infinite amount to where the energy force is expanded, not quickened so that one doesn’t get tired immediately after using such immense speed. A simple thought process should be able to make one faster with this chip inside them. This is... perfect, Miss Corners.” He had a full smile now, as if just wanting to get ahead of the game and immediately make the chips.
“Well, you expanded on the idea, honestly. I’m sure Charlie or Christina would be willing to help you make those, just not right now. Charlie desperately needs a nap and Christina would be able to help you, she’s just disposing of some of the microchips that were too damaged when they were taken out of some of the members.” Cyrus’s ears perked up.
“I need her to keep those parts.” He got up from his seat, his eyes not leaving the page that had the design on it. “I’ll talk to you later, brother,” Cyrus’s mentioned to Griffin without looking up and headed out of the door, almost running into the trash can while doing so. I smiled as Griffin came over and took his brother’s spot, eating the leftovers Cyrus left. He started to eat it and then paused.
“Would you like some, Akira?” He asked and I shook my head as I wrinkled my nose.
“No, it all smells just... disgusting.” His eyes went wide a little.
“But this is one of your favorite dishes, Akira, especially with the medium rare steak.” I shook my head.
“It just smells really disgusting, that’s all. It doesn’t smell... healthy, I’m not sure.” Griffin then stared at me for a few moments before heading back down to the food. I looked around the cafeteria for food that would suffice for me to eat, but all of the smells that came from the food that was sitting out or even being made smelled disgusting. It honestly made my stomach churn. How did this smell good to anybody?
I shuddered at the thought, got up, and said goodbye to Griffin, who kept on eating the food, and headed out of the cafeteria, glad to be out of that room. I then headed to the gym to start working out, and then soon enough, Alice came in for her session. As I started to train with her, Solana accidentally barged in and hesitated when I asked her if she wanted to train. Later on, after Alice was done training with me, along with a few others, Solana came back, seeming determined to train with me. I decided to train with her a bit, showing her pointers and how to correctly punch someone and what points in the body were weak. She seemed to remember every single one flawlessly.
Once training was done for the night, not wanting to sleep, I decided to go back to the meeting room to look at the security cameras. There was nothing on radar, so I just sat down in a chair and looked up at the ceiling. I started to slowly fall asleep until the door opened suddenly and I jumped awake. I turned around to see Charlie and Griffin walking in, along with Sebastian in tow. They were all smiling. I smiled and stood because they were. It was hard to be happy right now, but it was all anyone had really. If only we could see the outside world more frequently...
Wait.
“Hey, Charlie?” I suddenly asked, interrupting what he was saying to Sebastian. He hesitated and then looked at me with raised eyebrows.
“Do you think we could make a hatch right above where I’m standing?” I asked him as I pointed straight upwards and he looked up at the ceiling, which was technically just metal holding up earth,
“That’ll be right where the floor to the house used to be. Are you sure?” Charlie asked and I nodded.
“Yeah, I’m sure.” I had my own plans in mind.
After that, I stayed up for the rest of the night, making plans, making attack plans, and helping others train by waking them up at three in the morning and kicking their butts into gear. I caught up with other members as well during the time that I trained with them, and that seemed to perk them up. Within the next two weeks, the members of the club were trained well, but not well enough. Most of them got worn out easily, so we had to give them breaks.
It was a Saturday now, and most of the members were sleeping. I was in my pajamas, walking around since it seemed that insomnia now had caught hold of me, at least for the last few days, and I headed over to the now finished project that was the meeting room. It seemed more like a meeting room now that we had computers, TVs, and the hatch now attached to the ceiling that had a ladder coming down from it. It helped out some of the members, seeing the outside. It helped Griffin and I as well. I looked over at the security cameras and narrowed my eyes when I saw something odd as Cyrus, Karin, and Violette walked into the room, yawning.
One of the cameras was near the forest, and all around that camera, there was a recent blood trail. I then looked at the next camera that was closer to the pothole cover that was the main entrance to the tunnels and saw a girl about my age moving it while she bled out of her side.
I rushed past Cyrus, Karin, and Violette to outside the room and ran over to the main entrance. The hatch was being opened and the unknown girl was practically falling down the entrance. I was able to catch her in time as she fell and slowly put her on the ground and my eyes widened when I realized who the girl was.
“Who is she, Akira?” Karin asked as I told Violette to go and get some bandages, who rushed out of the area to quickly find some.
“Her name is Kiyoko,” Cyrus stated and I stared at him, wondering how he knew her name. “And she’s Hiraku’s daughter.”
