I didn't set my phone alarm to make sure I didn't miss it or anything...
Not going to post on OotRH tonight like I said I would...falling asleep...maybe after champs tomorrow? Meh...
I ate too many Skittles and now I feel very sick... >//<
I forgot to do the mood thing again...
Got called in yesterday by the president of the school, who used to be head of the marching band. He basically took mine and NZ's points and said that they were a bunch of BS and that the instructors had the right to be horrible to us. I can't believe I haven't quit yet.
Alright, that's it for tonight...
OH WAIT. THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VETERANS. AIR FORCE, NAVY, MARINES, ARMY, NATIONAL GUARD, COAST GUARD. And I hope I didn't miss any... >//< Please tell me if I did so I can thank them too!! Thank you to everyone who helps keep us safe!!
Everyone seems to think the Coast Guard isn't a legitimate part of the military. THERE ARE COAST GUARD PEOPLE IN AFGHANISTAN (and I feel like it's spelled wrong but I'm tired kay?). Without the Coast Guard, smuggling would be crazy, drugs would be all over the place, thousands more people would be lost at sea and never return each year...Seriously, guys. Support the Coast Guard too. It pissed me off when last year people were asked, nay, begged to bring in pictures of military for a video and I brought four pictures: my grandfather, the Navy, my uncle, the Army, and my father and other grandfather, the Coast Guard. The first two made it in; the second two did not. And they certainly were not having a picture surplus. -_-
Sorry...I'm being ranty because my mom yelled at me for daring to still be awake past nine o'clock -_-
Again, thank you to all veterans! You guys are AWESOME.
Gonna go now--those Skittles and my need for sleep are catching up with me...
Tata~!

Yeah, so my mom wants me to sleep now, so I'm going to list today's highlights and expand tomorrow like I usually do (is a great blogger...):
1. Talk with the president of school on band goes to crap.
2. Counselor appointment ranty as usual.
3. Sectional? What sectional?
4. Made a lizard on Maya named Steve the Stardust Speckled Lizard.
5. Did pushups and destroyed legs and arms.
6. Almost died of hypothermia. Legit. Well, almost legit. Enough to be a bit serious, I guess, but not enough to send me to a hospital ^^;

I'm not doing that whole mood thing tonight cuz I'M TOO LAZY. SO SUE ME.
Had the official indoor drumline meeting yesterday. AND SO...
New policies of this indoor drumline season:
--"Three Strikes and You're Out": Unexcused absences? Disrespect towards instructors? Reasonable. Unprepared for practice? If you forget your music three times, or forget to wear sneakers three times, or don't know your music well enough three times, or any such combination of the prior totally three, you're out of the program.
--Paternalism: Don't worry, we'll place you where we know you belong. You can state your preference. Your preference will not be considered. You don't know what's good for you. We know what's good for you.
--Religious Intolerance: Wanna go on the Kairos retreat in February? It's a really fulfilling, life-changing experience, you know. Also, it counts as an unexcused absence. So you'd better not be religious. Not that I really wanna go on Kairos, but some people kinda do...
--Democratic Centralism: We figured you guys would want a marching show, so we decided not to even vote on it this year. Even though last year the vote was overwhelmingly for standstill.
--Requirements: Giving up your lunch twice a month to have drum lessons with the person who ruined your band career isn't that big of a problem. If it is, you are not allowed to be in this program.
--Double Standards: Don't disrespect the instructors. Don't disrespect the parents. You will get a strike. If you disrespect the student leaders, whom we did not feel were worth mentioning in our informational packet, we will pretend it did not happen.
--Free Time: There will be none.
--Saturdays: Starting in January, there will be seven-hour practices that will take up most of your day. You will have a lunch break. It will probably not last more than half an hour.
--Easy Time Management: Drumline is god. If you have work, you are expected to go to drumline. If you have tutoring, you are expected to go to drumline. If you have play, you are expected to go to drumline. Play does include dress rehearsals. Especially dress rehearsals.
--Early Decision: As opposed to our usual month break between the outdoor and indoor seasons, we are giving you a week. During this week, you must learn your audition pieces, and every single one of them. We will call on you to do parafluffldiddles and the like, even if you're a freshman. Most likely if you're a freshman.
--Surprises: We know you like them, so we're not telling you what our show is yet. You do not have the right to ask.
--No Title by Blood: If you're a captain in outdoor, you might not be a captain in indoor. Especially if you blow off the last practice to go to a concert. Even if you bought the $80 dollar tickets months in advance thinking that the date was a Friday and not a Thursday.
--Disclaimer: Any rights, liberties, or the like not mentioned here do not exist. We hope you enjoy your time in the indoor drumline program.
...yeah. Yeah. That was our indoor meeting, which took place before outdoor champs WITHOUT the band director's permission. EVERYONE is upset. Students, parents, EVERYONE. Kids are talking about quitting, a lot more than I'd thought. NZ, the drum captain, loves this activity. Adores it. He spent 3/4 of the practice last night ready to kill someone. I have never seen him that upset before in my life. We talked after practice, and he said that he was considering not coming back. He said that if he was a freshman, he would not even consider joining.
I'm not quitting yet, because NZ asked me to wait to make a decision until he, the drum major, and I talk to the instructors and see if they will change anything. If they won't, I'm gone, and I hope NZ goes too. I don't want to leave him the only sane one in band.
I drew him a note today on a Sagwa postcard because he thought the notes broski and Artie and I draw each other were cute and I told him I'd draw him one. He really liked it. (I used Fujian, for those who know who he is.) I'm glad I'm making him feel a bit better...
This is a mess. It really is. Parents are getting involved. Authoritive figures (say, the president of the school?) are getting involved. It's bad.
...but at the same time, it's good. I'm glad this is all collapsing on the instructors. They had it coming. They brought about their own downfall by being inconsiderate of kids' feelings and running this activity for themselves and not the people who really matter--us. I think that this will finally help them realize how absolutely horrible they've been. (grins in a possibly maybe really snapped!Canada-like way)
Well, that's all the rant I've got for now. If you read all this, take a cookie. (holds out plate of cookies) Cassio baked them!!

Not decided yet--serious crap went down, and people's heads are going to roll and such, and it's NOT MY FAULT.
Talked to my guy friend (codename NZ) who's the drum captain. He asked me not to make any decisions about leaving until we both talked to the instructors, so I'm going to wait because I like NZ and I know he's really upset too.
Furthur explanation tonight!!
~Mattie
...real post tonight cuz the screen's blurry in front of me and I feel like crap. If one more person gives me a band talk I think I'm going to die.
I apologize for the failure that is my life...
