^6^ (plus thoughts on Iago)

Russia-kun says hi.

Anyways, so what's up with this world? Like, when I make a post that's ten words long, I get like 10-15 comments on it, but when I actually put a ton of work into a post, no one says anything? I dunno, man...I was considering just blowing this post off and seeing how many people commented, since it would be pretty short, but...I HAVE AN AGENDA.

REVELATION. REVELATION ABOUT OTHELLO.

So there's a part where Iago decides to provide "circumstantial evidence" (coughthat'scompletelymadeupcough) that Othello's wife Desdemona is cheating on him with Cassio. And the circumstantial evidence he provides always boggled my mind a little bit because it just sounds so ridiculous. He says that he and Cassio had recently slept in the same bed...

NOW HOLD ON. STOP THERE. Two guys sharing a bed? Was that really normal in Shakespearean times? Really? Anyway, continuing.

Now, apparently Cassio sleeptalks. And while sleeptalking, Iago claims that he said things like, "Oh, my lovely Desdemona," etc and then...get this...grabbed Iago and kissed him. And pretty passionately, according to Iago's story. He also claims that Cassio wrapped a leg around him and other such intimate things and so on.

...yeah, wtf? I had completely forgotten about this since the last time I read it...But now...it raises some questions...

First off, this isn't real. Iago's making this all up for his own benefit. So why couldn't he have stopped at sleeptalking? Why did he openly admit that his guy friend (didn't really but for the sake of argument) nommed on his face while dead asleep? Wasn't that a bit too far? What was he thinking, coming up with a story like that?

Second off...if it was real...why didn't he fight back? Or at least make some mention of fighting back in his story...

The simple answer is that Iago is deeply in love with Cassio and therefore is pouring his desires into this lie that he has created. Yep! :D

Okay well no, I'm sure that's not at all what Shakespeare was hinting at and really that shouldn't be taken too seriously, but you don't find that at all odd? And it does support my pairing, eh, eh?

I've brought yaoi to Shakespeare...What have I done?

Anyways, last thing before I go! I was actually planning on having Cassio walk by during V and Iago's coffee date, but then I realized that I didn't have him get up til around 1:30. So that's a no. Sorry, Cass! No enviously jealous feelings of envy for you today!

Cassio: -_-

But alright, I'm gonna split. Field trip tomorrow~!

Matthew: Hold on! I'm still waiting on that apology!

Right. Listen to the Canadian. Poor thing, traumatized. (pats Matthew's head) Anyways, tata~!
