Meanwhile, On the Internet...

So, my annoying day wasn't quite over.

When I checked my email last night, I discovered an order I'd recently placed somehow got replicated four times. I got four different shipping emails on the same order, each with a different order number. >>; And I am absolutely certain I only clicked 'Submit' once.

I sent an email as soon as I discovered this, but not getting anything back today I called the phone number to talk to a real person. Three of the orders have shipped, so when they all get here, I need to call them back and they'll get me started on the return process and reimburse me for the extra orders.

*collapse* x_X

Today was another one of those long trips up to the hospital, this time for two appointments: cardiac clinic and pulmonologist. Normally this would be long enough, but today was even longer and more tiring than usual.

At the cardiac clinic, they wanted me to take a stress test. I had to get wired up to a computer, wear an uncomfortably tight face mask (I felt like Hannibal Lecter) to monitor oxygen in/CO2 out, and then ride a stationary bike, trying to keep up a certain pace, all the while as it steadily ramped up the difficulty as if I was going up a hill. Now, for a guy who admittedly does not get out and exercise like he should, this was all pretty torturous, I was out of breath and my legs were on fire near the end. Not to mention the bike seat was no better than sitting on a 2x4 on edge; my butt and other parts were quite sore. I was exhausted and felt all twitchy and wobbly when it was over.

I'd like to hope I never have to do that again, but I won't put it past them to do it again in years to come. >>;

Needless to say, I am more tired and sore right now than I've been in quite a while. @_@

On the upside, I managed to read an entire book through the trip. I just grabbed one of my classic Doctor Who novelizations. It's like having your favorite TV stories on the go in easy-to-carry book form. 8D

And now it's time for gratuitous music. A selection from what I brought with me for the drive.

We Hold On

A musical respite from the insanity of the world. Enjoy.

Hope no one reading this lives in Georgia...

As if more proof were needed that the recent elections were seen by the crazy people as a license to come out of the woodwork, a State Rep in Georgia has introduced a bill that would classify miscarriage as "prenatal murder", according to the bill's language. Yep, this guy wants to hold women criminally liable for something that is completely out of their control, a natural phenomenon that even medical professionals still don't fully understand.

With any luck, this thing will be shot down before it even gets close to a vote.

Oh, and crazy people, can I please have my country back? Kthx GTFO.

Countdown to History (If the Weather Holds & the Gremlins Stay Away)

This afternoon, not long from now, Space Shuttle Discovery is due to launch on its final mission, so long as everything works out correctly. With any luck, I'll be outside my house soon, watching it ascend into space. Keep your fingers crossed.

Time for one of my favorite Rush songs which is perfect for this occasion.

EDIT: And it launched! Unfortunately we had enough of a low cloud layer here that we couldn't see it or take any pictures. Blah.
