Just wanted to post an update concerning the anime I promised to people. If you haven't received anything yet, don't worry, I haven't forgotten you! I'm going to get right back on that and finish shipping things out. :)
Dutch symphonic metal/rock band Within Temptation are set to release their long-awaited new album this March. Titled The Unforgiving, it marks the band's first fully-fledged concept effort. The story will be told in tandem through the album's music, a trio of short films, and a related comic book series.
Here is the first music video, for the single "Faster".
This weekend has been total insanity. So many things have gone wrong/wacky:
Turns out there was worse damage to the hard drive than I assumed. The Geek Squad guy said the noises it was making meant the drive itself was screwed up. Since it would probably cost a lot to have the drive physically removed and data recovered no matter where I took it, I just did an exchange for a new drive, but of course this means downloading everything all... over... again... again. But this time, the drive is staying in a stable place, and not on the end of my laptop table.
One of my new Doctor Who DVDs had some glitching issues, so I had to exchange that. New one works (thankfully), but when I watched a disc from another DVD, that glitched too, and badly. Looks like there's a big physical flaw in the disc itself, so I'm going to have to do another exchange this week.
My Audacity program was acting up when we were doing the podcast last night, so I had to perform a recovery operation.
So yeah, I'm tired of everything going wrong. I'd appreciate it if karma would let up on me a little. >>;
I was not a very happy person this morning. My dad decided to get security systems for our house and grandma's. What he didn't know until the guy came to install it was he needed to connect directly to the internet/phone line, and the cable comes into the house in my room. So I was unexpectedly kicked out of my room. Then they moved all my stuff around. Then, when dad finally moved everything back, he decided to fiddle with the way I had my laptop set up. And now, for some unknown reason, my BRAND NEW EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE WON'T WORK! This is a fucking nightmare! After all the time I had to take re-downloading the anime I had on the previously broken hard drive, I can't get to any of it AGAIN! Unless I can get the damn thing working again on my own, I'll have to go out this week to a local computer repair place and see if they'll be able to get into it and recover the information. There won't be any point taking it to the Geek Squad, because they're too chicken to crack these things open.
I am very, very, amazingly pissed right now...
EDIT: It looks like part of the connection on the power dock is broken. Dad says the drive started to fall, but he caught it, and because it was still plugged into the laptop, the power dock popped off. If this is all, then we need a new power dock. The question is, can we get one right away, or will they have to order a new one, which means waiting. I'm not a big fan of waiting.
So, I finally got some anime mailed out to people this week. Some of you already know, and some don't.
Packages were sent on Wednesday to Raina, Katana, and Nehs, and Ducky/Missay and Shin today. SomeGuy, yours is all packed up, but the handy-dandy machine in the post office lobby doesn't handle international stuff, so I'm going back tomorrow.
Hope you all enjoy your gifts! 8D
I'll resume mailing out everyone else's stuff next week.
