My Life Lately

Feels like its time for an update post.

GO, BULLET POINTS!

  • Mom and dad were out of town most of last week. Church reunion camp thing. Monika (uncle's gf, well now ex-gf) came over to make sure grandma and I weren't left on our own the whole time. Wooh, supervision! :V She also brought her entire herd of dachshunds, eleven in total. I like em, but I'm a cat person really so after a week of them I had definitely had enough.
  • New people moving in next door to grandma. They seem OK. It's an older couple, probably a bit older than my parents.
  • After seeing SomeGuy post so many times about Castle, I finally decided to watch it... and I'm pretty much addicted now. Best episode so far: S2E6 "Vampire Weekend". Firefly costume in-jokes and mad cackling FTW. It was also a bit disconcerting seeing an FBI agent in Season 1 played by the same actor who previously played a serial killer in Criminal Minds. Oh, irony.
  • I'll start mailing off everyone's anime picks this week. Its still delayed because I didn't have a ride today and tomorrow I have to take the long lame trip up to the hospital again for another appointment. Blah.

OK, here's who got what so far...

I'm just going to make a quick post to clarify who is getting what anime (in case anyone else comes along and doesn't read the comments of the previous post before saying "DO WANT!") Miss Anonymous - Gankutsuou, Serial Expe...

Return of the Laptop, Crash of the Hard Drive

And when I say "crash", I mean it literally.

First things first, finally got my laptop back today. Huzzahs all around! Turns out the power button and its mechanism were faulty. I'm kind of annoyed they had to send it away for a week and a half just for that, but at least it wasn't the motherboard, which was their first guess, so I lost nothing.

And now to the crappy part. My 2TB hard drive took another tumble off a desk last night, and now this time all it does is make a beeping noise when it's plugged in. The Geek Squad people were too afraid to break into the case (like they were when my 500GB drive went south), and I don't want to send yet another thing away (which I'd have to pay for this time). They suggested taking it to a local repair place, so I'll call there first and see what they have to say about it. Luckily, I was in the process of removing a lot of anime I just didn't care about bothering to watch anymore, so I didn't have it nearly as full as it used to be, but if I can't salvage the data, that still means a lot of downloading things over again. And I went ahead with my plan to get a replacement, so I now have a spiffy new 3TB drive to play with.

One man can make a difference...

So tonight I decided to watch the series premier of The Cape. It's been years since there was a proper superhero show on TV, and I wanted to check this out. The setting is Palm City (not sure where it is, though California...
