I had that with internet explorer and I just switched to google chrome and it works fine with me (well, except for when my internet is low, but that is not it's fault ^^ :) )

Here's a solution that worked for me in IE 9. When you access theOtaku, there should be a button at the right side of the address bar that looks like a torn sheet of bond paper. That's the button for Compatibility View. When you click on it, the site will reload again with the necessary corrections to make it compatible to the new IE version.
After clicking on that button, I was able to access the comments normally once again. Hopefully, that would work in your end.
I tried doing this on my own laptop (Windows 7, with IE 9). Apparently, I'm experiencing the same thing you experienced as well, which is odd since I vaguely remember being able to open it normally in IE before. Maybe it has something to do with the IE version rather than the new Windows 8.

I do as well, but since Mozilla has yet to release a browser compatible with Metro, me and my little VivoTab have to make to with IE.
It's occasionally frustrating.

Yeah, same problem here.
I think it's a compatibility issue with how the Metro version of IE is constructed.
