The first day of the rest of their lives...

I finally finished Good Omens tonight! I say "finally"... it didn't take that long to read in terms of total hours actually spent on it but in terms of total time from start to finish it was almost a week, although I read pretty much the last half between Friday and Saturday.

If you enjoy fantasy with a healthy dose of comedy, you really should read this book. It's oozing with that wonderful British sense of humor, that wit and irony, throwing one ridiculous, insane thing after another in your face and treating it as if it was just something you see every day. The characters are all really good. Standouts include Crowley and Aziraphale, the demon and angel duo that are the main characters, plus the portrayal of the Four Horsepersons of the Apocalypse is also a treat. I'd say more, but I don't want to spoil too much, although my favorite part of the whole book involves Crowley's Bently consumed in a ball of flame, being held together only by his willpower. Plus the fact that it's cassette player turns every tape into a Best of Queen album.

After this, I'm definitely looking forward to reading Terry Pratchett's Discworld series.
