The albums tell the story of Ariel, a young alchemist who desires to know the ultimate truth. To gain it, he enters into a deal with Mephisto, a fallen angel who wishes to claim Ariel's soul.
The story is based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's epic poem Faust.
