The TV Post: Cop Shows Edition

Because A) I really don't have anything else to talk about, and B) I have recently succumbed to the lure of TV Tropes.

So, here are my reactions to certain developments in upcoming cop shows...

YAY!: Much of the cast of NCIS were renegotiating their contracts, and there was some concern some of them might leave. But thankfully all renegotiation was successful with every actor signing new multi-year deals.

BOO!: I actually learned about this while reading the Criminal Minds Tropes page, under Executive Meddling. Due to budget issues, AJ Cook's contract was not renewed, so her character JJ will be written out next season (only appearing in two episodes). Also, they are going to seriously cut back Prentiss's screen time, and reportedly she will depart the show next season. This will leave Garcia as the only regular female character, unless they plan to add new characters. What makes this particularly BOO!-worthy is the fact that CBS is working on a spin-off to Criminal Minds. They slash the budget of the original series, and yet have the money to spend on a spin-off? I call bullshit!

YAY!: Season 2 of White Collar starts next week on USA. I need to make sure I'm all caught up with Season 1...

HMM: Of course, it seems like there's several new cop shows ready to pop up this year, and I could really care less about them. One of the new ones for TNT is called Rizzoli & Isles. Never gave it much thought, until I caught an ad tonight where I discovered who was playing the title characters: Angie Harmon (A.D.A Abbie Carmichael in Law & Order) and Sasha Alexander (Kate Todd in NCIS). So, I may actually bother to see if it's worth watching.

That concludes today's TV rant. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. :V
