Quick Update

  • Mom is doing much better, and she appreciates all your well-wishes. ^^ Heh, and since Dad will be at church camp for a week, she says I definitely will need to pamper her. =P
  • My books came in the mail yesterday, as I hoped they would.
  • I got my laptop working, somehow. o_O Not exactly sure what I did, but it probably had something to do with unplugging/replugging everything in the router. Once it was fixed, I wasted no time installing an anti-virus protection program we had bought some time ago. I'll be installing it on the PC tonight.
  • I'm currently having taco salad for lunch, prepared by my sweet mother. ^^

And now that that's over, time for some music.

Lately I've been hooked on my Anubis Gate CD, listening to it over and over. Anubis Gate is a Danish band, and their third and most recent album is Andromeda Unchained. I had never paid much attention to the band in the past, but with this album they hit gold, shifting into a more progressive metal style and taking on Jacob Hansen as vocalist. Hansen is the key, as his voice is marvelous and perfectly fits the music; he blows their previous vocalists away by miles.

Andromeda Unchained is a concept album. Set in the future, it chronicles a tale of war, tyranny, and resistance on the human colony of Andromeda, and a desperate escape back to Earth.

Here is the song "Beyond Redemption". In this song, the dictator of Andromeda, who controls his subjects through mental powers, enters the mind of a resistance fighter to expose their plans. (Lyrics provided below)

The world's beneath me
The papers of tomorrow
I foresee the name of the game
No hesitation
No complication
All and sundry knows my name

Behold!
I've the strength to survive
I believe I'll derive your every thought from you
Observe, watch and learn
Do you feel the same
Or are you left behind
Reach inside your mind

At my disposal: the key to equilibrium
Anywhere
Combing powers
Of cerebral matters
Enter a godlike heir

Beware!
I've the strength to survive
I believe I'll derive your every thought from you
Observe, watch and learn
Do you feel the same
Or are you left behind
Reach inside your mind

Behold!
I've the strength to survive
I believe I'll derive your every thought from you
Observe, watch and learn
Do you feel your inmost thoughts
Are changing minds
I'll drain you from behind

I'm a king beyond redemption
And all mankind
Shall taste my cruel passion
I'll create a thoughtworld
Upon your minds
And call it my home

End
