Today was another one of those long trips up to the hospital, this time for two appointments: cardiac clinic and pulmonologist. Normally this would be long enough, but today was even longer and more tiring than usual.

At the cardiac clinic, they wanted me to take a stress test. I had to get wired up to a computer, wear an uncomfortably tight face mask (I felt like Hannibal Lecter) to monitor oxygen in/CO2 out, and then ride a stationary bike, trying to keep up a certain pace, all the while as it steadily ramped up the difficulty as if I was going up a hill. Now, for a guy who admittedly does not get out and exercise like he should, this was all pretty torturous, I was out of breath and my legs were on fire near the end. Not to mention the bike seat was no better than sitting on a 2x4 on edge; my butt and other parts were quite sore. I was exhausted and felt all twitchy and wobbly when it was over.

I'd like to hope I never have to do that again, but I won't put it past them to do it again in years to come. >>;

Needless to say, I am more tired and sore right now than I've been in quite a while. @_@

On the upside, I managed to read an entire book through the trip. I just grabbed one of my classic Doctor Who novelizations. It's like having your favorite TV stories on the go in easy-to-carry book form. 8D

And now it's time for gratuitous music. A selection from what I brought with me for the drive.
